Honestly I'm thinking... so hard about Nightwing 119. I'm fascinated by how Dick is aware that in order to keep people safe, you might have to do things not everyone agrees with, and how you might have to do things that are on the 'morally gray' side of things.
Its interesting how Dick is trying to control crime, over just stopping it. It really reminds me of Under The Red Hood, and how Jason argued that you can't stop crime, only control it to minimize the damage. And that seems to be exactly what Dick is doing here, albeit in a non-lethal way lol. It's a decision Bruce definitely isn't gonna like, based purely on what happened with Jason, though I'm not sure what Bruce will do about it. I'm not sure how that conflict will go, but that's something I'm really, really excited to see.
Overall I really love a morally dubious Dick, especially one who's taking a page out of his brothers book!!

Warrior Thought
Warrior Season 3 Finale
(Sorry person who sent me an anon message, I accidentally deleted it 😭 but here ya go)
AH TOY AND NELLIE KILLING DICKLAND TOGETHER!!! THE WIVES ARE SO BACK!!!
They had to fit in A LOT this episode, but I’m glad Ah Toy and Nellie had two very solid scenes. I fantasized so much about them getting revenge together, and it actually happened! Sorry Leary but the wives deserve this more! Dickland talking shit and playing stupid mind games with them. His arrogance was his downfall. No asshole YOU should be afraid because Ah Toy is not playing around! She didn’t get a single scratch while slicing and dicing him like a pig! It was so bloody and brutal and violent, I love it! Nellie being backup with her shotgun like “you’re doing great sweetie!”
Then Bill and Leary had to show up at the wrong time! Though I don’t think Bill can recognize her from that distance. Then Nellie began shooting at them and they ran away. So hopefully they’ll be off the hook next season. Burning Dickland’s body in the incinerator was pure poetic Justice!
Back at the brothel, the adrenaline of revenge is replaced by crushing despair. Dickland’s death didn’t bring back Lai and their girls. He’s not the only greedy and evil man out there. Ah Toy’s been in survival mode for so long, she’s TIRED of all this shit! She never let herself show emotion like this, not even with Ah Sahm. Seeing her completely break down with Nellie is a huge deal for their relationship! After everything that happened, they still love each other and became even stronger. Nellie holding Ah Toy close and saying “I’m not going anywhere” 😭🥺💕 So similar to how they ended last season. I predict that Ah Toy will leave the brothel, and they’ll rebuild somewhere next season.
Mai Ling confronting Eliza was so good! After the trauma she endured, Mai Ling can’t help relating to Eliza. What Eliza did was wrong, but her shitty husband is the real problem. Mai Ling giving Eliza a knife…I hope she use it well.
So here for Catherine Archer scamming Buckley for all his money! Rob his slimy racist ass, lady!
The Tongs, Isaac’s crew, and police fighting over the money plates. The ice factory is a homage to Bruce Lee, according to the Internet. Nice. The finale definitely isn’t short on action, I counted 4 in this episode! Isaac almost took the plates but Ah Sahm handled him, and gave them to Lee. That means Yan Mi can be free.
Tbh I’m quite concerned with how they portrayed the black characters this season. Abigail is good, but most of them were antagonistic. I’m aware of how Asians are deemed “the model minority” and often pitted against African Americans. I just wish the show could’ve subverted that somehow.
Back to Yan Mi, she’s released from jail and runs home to her father. It’s a very poignant scene that can resonate with children of immigrant parents. She respects him, but felt stifled by his expectations. Still, she did mess up by getting involved with a gang. I would’ve preferred Ah Sahm to not have romance this season, but it served it a purpose. I like Yan Mi as a character. Too bad she gets so much flack for getting between YJ and Ah Sahm.
After getting disowned, she goes to the train station. Ah Sahm never made it, but Chao does. He convince her to go without him anyway, and she does but it’s hard. She got the money from Chao, but she’s also alone as a Chinese woman. We’ve seen other characters try to get out and it didn’t go well. Still, glad they didn’t kill her and hopefully she’ll be ok. Just a small town girl…living in a lonely world…she took the midnight train going anywhere…
After Kon Pak, Lai, and Father Jun…I draw the line at Chao getting stabbed multiple times! ZING is back and he wants revenge against everyone! Bill and Lee looked so happy, laughing on the porch 😬 They better not kill Chao if they get season 4! So many Asian characters died this season, they better replenish! Hello, Michelle Yeoh??? 🙏🏻 Don’t let the white characters outnumber them!
Finally… the dreaded moment where Ah Sahm has to choose between his sister and the Hop Wei. I figured he would choose Mai Ling. His relationship with Young Jun has been going downhill this season. It’s hard to watch because I understand both of their perspectives. Ah Sahm vs YJ and Hong was equally epic and heartbreaking. None of them took pleasure in that fight, but it was necessary. Ah Sahm knocked both of them out before going to find Mai Ling.
Meanwhile, Mai Ling is defending herself against the Hop Wei. She makes some progress with her gun, but gets overpowered by them. It looked like she might die by drowning, but I didn’t buy it. Ah Sahm and Mai Ling are reunited as they desperately cling to each other. No more Hop Wei and Long Zhii. Li Yong became the leader of his own tong, good for him! Exploring these new dynamics in season 4 will be very interesting. I’ve always understood Mai Ling while not agreeing with all her manipulative schemes. Hitting rock bottom could lead to some sort of redemption for her. Looking forward to it!
Big political changes will definitely endanger Chinatown next season. The Chinese Exclusion Act was passed in 1882, but it might be sooner in the show. Not good when everyone is still divided and fighting each other. Perhaps Ah Sahm, the embodiment of Bruce Lee, will unite them all in the end.
Season 3 had its flaws, but overall it was amazing! I really hope it doesn’t end here, the story and characters have so much potential! Fucking Hollywood studios refusing to pay people fairly 😡😡😡 I saw on Twitter some of the Warrior cast joining the protest too, it’s great! Season 4 of Warrior or we riot!!!

★Imagines of them accidentally hitting you★
Robin Arellano
You probably sneaked attacked him making him go into fight or flight mode. Which is definitely fight mode. So he swings and hits you, making you fall on your ass flat.
“CARIÑO, WTF WERE YOU THINKING?!”
He’s just yelling at you in Spanish now cause of that stupid ass stunt you pulled.
"¡NO PUEDO CREER QUE TE HAYA GOLPEADO! ¿SABES LO MALO QUE ES?”
So after him yelling at you while making sure he didn’t leave a bruise on you. After he sees there are no bruises, he definitely smacks your head.
“Fucking dumbass.” “Robin, I said I was sorry-”
Finney Blake
You scared him as a prank by putting a killer clown mask. Which you didn’t expect was that he actually fought back by punching you.
I guess those lessons from robin paid off.
“ARRGHHH” “AH WTF” *punches you*
You kinda hit the ground too hard to the point this mf knocked you out.
Finn pulls the mask off of you to expect some random asshole, but indeed the asshole was you. So finney freaked out about punching you.
“Y/n?! OH GOD IM SO SORRY!!”
Starts thinking he killed you cause you haven’t responded to him about 5 minutes until you woke up.
“awOah!” You sat up straight and looked at him. “Damn Finn where the hell did you learn how to punch hard?” “Robin.” “Of fucking course…”
Gets you an ice pack and says sorry but also saying that he isn’t cause you shouldn’t have done that.
Vance Hopper
Tbh he would probably hit you cause he probably thought you was some douche trying to mess up his score.
You grabbed his shoulder roughly and this man went full on fight mode like Robin.
*grabs you arm and starts twisting it, then kicks your legs to make you fall”
“VANCE, VANCE ITS FUCKING ME, CHILL!!”
He actually sees its you and clicks his tongue. He picks you up from the ground, carries you on his back to his house.
He actually takes good care of the bruises he caused you. And to make sure you learn your lesson, he smacks where it hurts on your legs and arm.
“OUCH, Wtf dude?!” “Should’ve dodged like I taught you dumbass…”
𝓑𝓻𝓾𝓬𝓮 𝓨𝓪𝓶𝓪𝓭𝓪
Now we all know how clumsy you are sometimes but you are a totally dunce.
Apparently you weren’t looking where you were going by looking away while walking on the baseball field.
Short story, Bruce hit you with his baseball bat cause you were behind him.
He didn’t even know you were behind him. He was too busy practicing how to swing much better.
“MOTHER FUCKER” “FUCKING COW ON A ROASTED STICK” “ARRGGHHH”
“Stop complaining. I’m literally just putting ice to make sure it won’t swell up more.”
“Don’t you love me?” :,( “don’t try that shit with me y/n”
“NO PUEDO CREER QUE TE GOLPEÉ, ¿SABES LO MALO QUE ES ESO?!” = “I CANT BELIEVE I HIT YOU, DO YOU KNOW HOW BAD THAT IS?!”
Cariño=Dear
┆HEY Deadghosy here! I hope you like this imagine. Mwah I hope you are all having a wonderful day/night! DEADGHOSY OUT PEACE!

How'd you cope with Oliver's character being both an asshole and also a great guy? Honestly took me a while to get into GA comics because I was introduced through Roy and Dinah, meaning I've seen the worst before I got to understand what was happening. Tbh with Bruce, I just either focus on his solo detective stuff or i pretend I do not see them lol
I mean…… I like it when he’s an asshole that’s part of the appeal? Is that he’s gruff and moody but still gentle and kind despite the attitude. He’s kind of the blueprint for the asshole with a heart of gold thing. That’s one of his biggest selling points imo - is that he is an asshole but he very very rarely takes it out on people who don’t deserve it.
But also, I started reading Green Arrow comics with the golden age comics, I started with the first ever appearance of Green Arrow- I read Golden and Silver Age and had context for their relationship pre-Snowbirds, I read all of Snowbirds before I ever heard someone who hadn’t read it make definitive statements about it. I read Ollie and Dinah’s first meetings in JLA (1969) before I ever got to them breaking up. I knew what the original story was before reading it from a writer who has admitted on record that he doesn’t like Oliver Queen and that he let that affect his work, and I knew what the original story was before touching the racist work of someone who would write an incredibly mischaracterized Oliver Queen. I didn’t go in ready to judge him for “cheating” to find out he was assaulted and I didn’t get ready to think of him as a horrible father who kicked out his son when his son wasn’t even living with him at the time. I find that for as much as he is an asshole and I like him that way- that the extent to which Ollie is an asshole and the how and to who he’s an asshole is seriously exaggerated or just straight up fabricated.
He’s an asshole, but he’s not cruel. When he hurts people he takes accountability for it and changes. He’s remembered as gentle and kind, his kids will say that all the love he has to give can be overbearing. But his character is all about change- and Ollie changes, when he makes a mistake he grows and doesn’t repeat it.
Unlike Bruce, Ollie quite notably doesn’t really take out his issues on his loved ones- there’s not really anything to excuse away- because when Ollie does bad shit the narrative addresses it and paints it as bad and we have to see him atone for it on page - we see Ollie earn rather than expect forgiveness. The narrative is set up to show us that Ollie is fallible but that the mark of a good man is to take accountability for your actions and change and keep going- so that’s what happens.
It’s honestly not that hard imo.

Hey, do you think everything about Outsiders vol 3 (Dick’s run as the leader) was completely in character? I personally see his asshole behaviour as extremely in character and wouldn’t expect anything else, but...not his leadership.
I think he would not take on any team, regardless of them being strangers, and that if he did he would be MORE careful and not less. (Mostly because he’s been a leader for a long time, great at compartmentalising and has always been stressed about being responsible for others lives and I don’t think those things would just disappear when people he cares for die). Like, he would still be a jerk and isolate himself but also plan ahead more and take the least risks possible (which would make him a worse leader than usual but not a downright bad one).
Idk just wondered how you see it.
Yeah, I actually view BOTH his time with the Outsiders and his time with the 1999 Titans lineup as being a case of like....characters configured into situations the editors and writers want them in, regardless of whether that makes sense for them at that particular point in time.
Tbh, I hate Dick being leader of both those lineups, and don't think he should have been on either team at those times, period. And I agree that his behavior in those periods made sense for all the shit he'd been through and was currently going on in his life, and like most importantly....
HE DIDN'T WANT TO BE THERE.
He repeatedly kept TELLING people he didn't want to be there, and that it wasn't a good time for him at EITHER point, and people who claim to know him best kept GUILTING and flat out manipulating him into being there, insisting they were doing so because it was for his own good, and they knew what he needed to snap him out of his funks, etc, etc....
EXCEPT THEN THEY KEPT GETTING MAD AT HIM FOR BEING MOODY AND AN ASSHOLE AND Y'KNOW.....NOT WANTING TO BE THERE.
Its like....hey guys, HE TOLD YOU. What did you expect? Its the same issue I have with the classic fight with Donna in NTT #19, where even if you leave aside the fact that he was brainwashed at the time, something that's always grinded my gears is how their fight takes place at Dick's apartment and before it escalates, Dick REPEATEDLY asks Donna to leave, and even tries to leave HIMSELF - from his OWN apartment - because he KNEW he wasn't in the right frame of mind to have the conversation or argument she wanted to have at that particular time.
And people NEVER listen to him! They never let him like have the definitive word on what HE needs, WHEN he needs it and what his needs look like.
And that bugs sooooo much, especially when coupled with how much flack he gets for being manipulative like Bruce or doing what he thinks is best without regard for what others are feeling or want.
Its like....if you're going to hold that against him, it needs to be acknowledged that people do this to him too, like ALL THE TIME. Including his closest friends like Donna, Wally and Roy.....with Wally being the one who pressured Dick to join back up with the Titans, after he'd literally been FORCED OUT of the group before the disbanding of the previous version, and like, still very much was not over all the deaths and injuries that had occurred during Titans Hunt, so reminiscent of previous disastrous events like Judas Contract and the Church of Blood......but Wally was CONVINCED that what Dick needed was to be back with the team again, back where he belonged, and he refused to listen when Dick repeatedly said he was under too much stress and pressure as is.
And like, Wally's intentions were good, but they have very different views of their times with the Titans because Wally has NEVER been in a position of leadership there! There's always been someone else to pass the buck off to when things go wrong, but there isn't that possibility with Dick! It stops with him, and he's always owned that.....which means like....joining back up with the Titans isn't a fun stress relief adventure time with old friends like Wally was picturing it as.....its stressful! Its life or death! Its the lives of his friends in DICK'S hands with nobody else to blame when shit goes south, as it always does.
And Dick KNOWS that, AND he knows his limitations, and so he tried to bow out gracefully from all that, but Wally kept pressuring him, made a big deal about only joining the team himself if Dick joined back up and acted like HE needed it for himself, and even though Dick CALLED him on this being bullshit and a blatant manipulation tactic, Dick still eventually joined up.....and just as he knew, Wally quit to focus on his family and the JLA within like ten issues, the second he was confident that Dick was at this point too INVESTED in the team to bail on it once Wally was gone.
And that's really shitty, tbh. And its not on Wally the character in the sense that they played it that way - the writers - because they wanted Dick back in the driver's seat of the Titans, but like.....the end result is still the end result, y'know? The takeaway is still that Dick was basically manipulated into taking up a job he no longer wanted, BECAUSE of how shit had blown up in his face with it before, and BECAUSE of how much else he had going on, and he KNEW it wasn't what he actually needed....but everyone else made it about what THEY decided he needed instead of listening to what he actually was saying and like....working with that instead.
Like, god bless the collective reasoning skills of Dick's friends and family who keep looking at everything the dude habitually keeps on his plate at his LOWEST settings, and thinks okay, what this guy really needs, I feel, is MORE responsibility.
Instead of like, trying to figure out how to help him take on LESS.
And then it all blew up in Dick's face exactly as he knew it would, and when more Titans died - Donna and Lilith this time - of fucking course Dick blamed himself for it, like literally anyone who knew him should have seen coming. But what were his friends and loved ones' reaction this time? What did they decide he needed?
The same thing they always do! More responsibility!
And again Dick tried to tell people this wasn't going to end the way they wanted it to - mostly Roy this time, as now it was Roy trying to get him to join up with the Outsiders using the specific pitch of them NOT being a family, like ENCOURAGING Dick to not get himself emotionally attached to the team so it didn't hurt as much if things went south with them -
Except again, this was blatant manipulation of the very same variety everyone gives Dick shit for, because in Roy's own words, the entire reason he did things this way was because he was convinced based on how well he knows Dick Grayson, that Dick wouldn't be CAPABLE of staying so unattached, and that he'd eventually invest in his new teammates despite his best efforts not to, and thus 'snap out of' his self-imposed isolation and like....form new connections via them.
But like....shockingly, it didn't play out that way? Dick deliberately tried to do exactly what he'd said he was going to do, KEEP himself from getting attached emotionally, with this being a very bad idea and absolutely something that led to teammates getting hurt, and yes that is on him and decisions he made out of an effort to focus on what HE needed rather than what was best for them - but like.....the problem I have here is like....this is precisely WHY Dick should NOT have been in a leadership position at this time, like you said!
And Dick was like the literal first person to make that argument?!??!
fahsklfhalfhalkfha
Roy was the one who pushed past it and said no I get it, and its okay, which HE shouldn't have done EITHER, not because Dick's choices were on Roy - they weren't, to be clear - but because Roy wasn't being straight forward about what his own intentions were. He wasn't ACTUALLY okay with Dick's approach to leadership of the Outsiders, he just didn't think it would ever actually get as far south as it went, because he was convinced it wasn't going to matter, because Dick was going to 'snap out of it' long before it became an actual problem. And THAT'S the part that's on Roy, because like....Dick TOLD him this wasn't a good idea, and WHY. And like, Dick literally just did exactly what he said he was gonna do, and that doesn't make it right, especially as a leader, but like......if people had actually listened to what he was SAYING rather than what they believed they KNEW about him and 'what he needed' then like.....they would have backed off and validated his concerns that he wasn't a good fit for a team right now and found some OTHER way to help him, rather than like...try and force it on their terms.
And so that's the part that bugs. Like, I don't think Dick's behavior during a lot of the team stuff of that period - even if it wasn't pretty - was like, out of character or even unreasonable - he was fucked up! He KNEW he was fucked up! He kept TELLING people, like hey guys, just FYI, I'm kinda fucked up at the moment.
But nobody would just....accept that. He's never allowed to just be HUMAN. Its the same thing with Dick as Batman and everything during Red Robin, like....other characters are so ready to jump on him for not being perfect the second he starts fucking shit up because he's reeling from stuff that hits EVERYONE hard, and him even more than most specifically BECAUSE of how much responsibility he normally shoulders (as well as how much blame others usually heap on him).....we barely ever see other characters being like okay, what do YOU need, how can we HELP.....
Instead of just....impatiently waiting for you to 'get back to normal' and be the Golden Boy we all both resent you for being while simultaneously EXPECTING you to be at all times, no matter what.
So no, I don't view his behavior with the Outsiders as OOC unfortunately, but I just think like....it would have been so different if he'd just been allowed to grieve in his own way at that time instead of being pushed and guilted and manipulated into getting back in the saddle right away or what the fuck ever, lol. Even his leadership fuck-ups at the time weren't out of character so much as they were proof that he SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN LEADING ANYONE at that time....
The trick of it is just like....he was 100% of that same opinion himself! Its just the writers wanted him as a leader anyway, and the characters were shoved into positions more about getting him to lead than getting him support.

Can you do a prompt of Marinette being the daughter of the Joker and Harley but Harley left him before Marinette was born and when Joker found out about his daughter He decided to kidnap Marinette so she can become like him (Ace chemicals) (Daminette)
Woot, my first ask in a while! Let’s see how I can do this oddly specific ask that reminds me of a fic that might actually exist but tbh I’ve read so many fanfics idk if my brain is remembering right
—*—*—*—*—*
Marinette knew Sabine and Tom weren’t her biological parents. She had known ever since she was eight, when her mother by blood visited her for the first time, sat her down, and explained everything. Including, but not limited to, her disastrously toxic past relationship, her new girlfriend, and her recent success with long term rehab (unofficial rehab that mostly consisted of illegal anti-hero actions, but hey if it worked it worked).
Marinette understood. Well no, she really didn’t since she was only eight, but she understood that her mom— that Harley— was genuine. She had always had a knack for emotions and telling when people were sincere or not. And Harley really was regretful about not being in her life beforehand, and was serious about wanting to be part of her life now that her own was mostly sorted out.
So Marinette was not surprised when Harley really did stick it out. When Harley cooed over Marinette copying her hairstyle to show her support of her biological mom, when Harley never failed to call at least once a week even if she was in jail for punching some asshole or another. Harley never stayed arrested long anymore, she was usually found to be on the right side of the moral scale more and more often so the police didn’t bother keeping her locked up anymore. Through the years, Marinette always looked forward to her mom’s calls. Looked forward to being lulled to sleep by one crazy story or another from her mother’s past. Everything was nice. Perfect, even, for a while.
A thump sounded from her balcony, one late night when Marinette was thirteen. Blinking, the dark haired girl furrowed her brows. Who would be on her balcony? Cautiously walking towards the trap door leading to it, grasping her metal pencil holder as a weapon (she remembered all of her Mom’s stories about break-ins and random attacks back in Gotham), the teen strained her ears. Akuma attacks were only a few months old now, but she had already become in high alert for any sign of Hawkmoth or his victims. As per usual, Marinette’s paranoia began to kick in. Did Hawkmoth already figure her out? Was he here for her earrings? Would she be able to fight him?
She gently pushed up the trap door, catching a glimpse of black leather. Huh? Marinette narrowed her eyes, confused. Was it Chat? He should have been on patrol, on the other side of the city. What was he doing visiting her?
Suddenly the trap door yanked the rest of the way open, making Marinette yelp as the handle for it rugged away from her fingers. And there, backlit by the pure blue-white moonlight, was Not Chat Noir. It was Catwoman, in all her skintight black leather glory, grinning at her before pushing her cat-eye goggles up to the top of her head and crouching down by the trap door’s entrance, balancing only on the pads of her feet.
“Well hello there~” the woman purred. “So you’re the cute little kitten Harley is so secretive about. Nice to finally meet you,” the woman held out a hand, sending Marinette a sweet, if mysterious, smile. For a while, the pigtailed girl only stared before a squeal of excitement left her throat, leaving very little room for any doubt as to her bloodline. A large smile curled over Marinette’s lips, leaving her beaming widely at the catlike woman on her balcony.
“Auntie Selina! Mom’s told me so much about you! Come in, come in, come in! I’ll sneak some macaroons up for you. Or do you prefer croissants? What’s your favorite flavor? Are you really dating Batman? Oh my goodness, that necklace is so lovely! Did you steal it?”
Selina could only chuckle fondly at the word vomit, letting the smaller girl drag her down the trap door and into her very… pink room. Looking around, Selina was once again slapped with just how similar this kid was to her outgoing friend. Marinette clearly had no shame in indulging in the things she liked, such as the color pink and anything regarding fashion. But there were other things amongst the girliness of the room, like the posters of Jagged Stone and the training dummy half-sticking out of her closet door. There were a few ornamental knives hung up behind her computer, seemingly just for decoration although Selina could see that they were definitely battle ready and sharpened. A small mallet, clearly a miniature replica of her mother’s own signature weapon, leaned up against the side of the girl’s laundry basket. But then there was Marinette’s mannequin, which was surrounded by meticulously cut pieces of cloth and had other pieces pinned to it strategically. Marinette clearly had the same professionalism and love for her chosen career that had so completely defined Harley in the Time Before Joker. The same genius intellect hiding in those deceptively cheerful bluebell eyes. And for the first time, though not for the last to be sure, Selina found herself thoroughly relieved that it seemed Marinette had inherited very little from her father.
Except, as she would learn from stories Harley told her later, an apparent affinity for chaos.
“I’m not that picky, kitten. But I’m not that hungry, so don’t go too out of your way,” Selina decided to just react the same way she did with Harley’s rambles, and answer one question at a time. “Also, I am actually dating Bruce Wayne. But, if you promise not to tell anyone—“ she waited for Marinette’s eager nod before continuing casually, “— the two are maybe not as mutually exclusive as many think,” Selina finished with a conspiratorial wink. “No, I actually did not steal this necklace. Bruce has been adamant in trying to curb me of my thieving habit by buying me almost everything I so much as glance at sideways. It’s sweet. Naive, because I like stealing for the fun of it, but sweet.”
Marinette giggled, bouncing in place happily. She loved a bit of innocent gossip like this. “Is Momma Ivy ever gonna visit? I don’t think Mom told her much about me yet, and I still gotta give her the shovel talk!” the fierce look that overcame Marinette’s face made Selina laugh again. Oh yes, definitely her mother’s daughter.
“Pam has been trying to sneak over, but the laws regarding Metahumans in Paris suddenly got much stricter a few months back and have caused some problems. You wouldn’t happen to know what happened, would you?” Selina did not miss when her seemingly innocent question caused her niece to close off almost instantly. Bluebell eyes took on a familiar guardedness, and scanned her with the same soul-searching intensity that Harley had when she was channeling her Psychiatrist side. Selina found herself in a slightly concerning spot though—
Because she couldn’t predict Marinette at all. She was left to simply stand there as Marinette searched for some unidentifiable thing in her eyes, completely unable to read the younger girl’s face and with no idea of what to expect. The side effect of having chaos so thoroughly entwined in both of her biological parents, she supposed.
“Nope, no idea.”
Selina knew that was a lie, but knew equally as well that she would not be getting a better answer anytime soon. So, she let it go and the two of them once again dipped into innocent chatter.
Later that night, when Selina left and the sun threatened to rise at any minute, Tikki flew up from her hiding spot under Marinette’s pillow to land on her holder’s shoulder. Marinette giggled and looked over at her little friend.
“Tikki?”
“Yes, Mari?”
“Why was I chosen to be your holder?” She asked suddenly, flopping back into her bed and staring at her ceiling. The little goddess hummed, smiling knowingly before flying down to cuddle in the crook of Marinette’s neck.
“Because you are born from luck itself. Even when bad things happen, you have the luck and determination to get out just fine, and stronger than before. And despite the destruction and anarchy in your blood, you have the willpower to reign it in and keep control of yourself. That’s all order really is, Marinette. The decision to take all the chaos and madness around us, and make it make sense. Make it do something good. And that’s a large part of who you are, I could feel it in your soul the moment we first met.”
Marinette closed her eyes, biting the inside of her cheek. “What if I lose control?”
“... You’ll just have to get it back. It’ll be hard, but as long as you have people to support you, you will be able to do it. You aren’t evil, Marinette,” the small God seemed to sense the true question her holder was asking, and did her best to soothe the doubt the girl felt. “Just remember the reasons you fight against chaos. Remember everyone you love, and you’ll be okay. And you have me, I’ll always help you.”
“... thank you, Tikki.”
—*—*—*—*—*
“He’s going to find out, Mom.”
“No he won’t, don’t be silly! I’ve been very careful about hiding you from him, Nettie-pie.”
“Mom… I just have a bad feeling. I don’t think we can hide who I am from him. If he sees me, I think he’ll know.”
The phone went silent.
“If he hurts you, I’ll kill him. If I was crazy about him, Sugar, then I’m head over heels for you. Not even he can stop me from caving his skull in if he tries his usual tricks with you.”
“... My plane leaves soon, I’ll talk to you when I land. And mom?”
“Yeah, honeycake?”
“I love you.”
—*—*—*—*—*
It was uncanny just how often Marinette’s hunches were right. Her intuition was something to behold, truly, because it only took three days in Gotham before Joker snatched her right out of her room at Harley and Ivy’s apartment. At least Marinette had sixteen by then, so she had had enough experience as a hero in Paris and with generally unpredictable situations and people who were absolutely nuts for her to not immediately panic. Too much, anyway.
Because there was definitely a little panic there.
See, Marinette knew herself inside out by then. After her own battle with her toxic feelings towards Adrien and doing her best to heal from those before she turned out like her mom, she knew she was by no means mentally indestructible. Mental illness ran the high risk of being inherited, and Marinette was well aware that her own personality was scarily similar to her mother’s at times. She got attached quickly, felt affection and love for others very strongly and, as she found with Adrien, could easily become obsessive if she didn’t watch herself. At least Harley was the perfect person to help with that, and Marinette was serious about helping herself too. She did everything she could to keep an eye on her mental health and keep her behavior in check so she didn’t do anything too unhealthy with her relationships again.
But she knew, she knew she had a soft spot for family. She got attached too easily. And being in the same room as her biological father, despite being tied up by her hands and feet and knowing just how many unforgivable things he had done in his life, Marinette felt vulnerable. She didn’t want to hurt him, despite everything. She still loved him, despite every reason not to, despite her first meeting with him being with him shoving chloroform over her face and hogtying her to a metal chain dangling over a vat of acid.
Geez, she’d need more than just her mom as a therapist after this for sure. Even if her mom had a PH.D, Marinette felt like she’d need several psychiatrists to sort through her emotional turmoil right then and make sense of any of it.
Marinette licked her lips, aware that the only kindness that Joker gave his daughter was sparing her from the discomfort of being gagged.
“Don’t,” Marinette said, surprising herself with the amount of steel she was able to put into her voice. Somehow, she managed to make the single word sound more like an order than a plead. “Joker, put me—“
“Ah-Ah-Ah!” The clown walked over, tutting and waving his finger in the air in almost playful admonishment. He gave her a dramatically fake pout. “Don’t you know it’s disrespectful to refer to your father by his first name?” Neither of them mentioned that Joker was definitely not his real name. They both knew the point was moot. “Say it with me now— ‘Daddy dearest, I am more than willing to be dunked in acid for you,’ go ahead, say it.”
Marinette’s jaw clenched. Familial love or not, she would not tolerate being ridiculed like that. She dealt with enough ridicule when she was fourteen and fifteen during school, before she put Liar Rossi in her place. She had spent the past three years as a hero in charge of the war against Hawkmoth, in charge of protecting all of Paris from an emotional terrorist.
And gee, wasn’t that what Joker was, too? Sure, he was a terrorist in the classic meaning of the word as well, but he was nothing if not a skilled manipulator. He knew the human mind just as well as Harley or any other psychiatrist did, he just used his knowledge for different means. He had emotionally abused Harley for years, he emotionally abused and manipulated people all across gotham on a daily basis. He was just another Hawkmoth, but with more physical violence in place of magic.
With these thoughts strengthening her resolve, Marinette narrowed her eyes at the man who donated half of her DNA. She let her anger boil into her irises, hitting him with one of the few traits she knew she inherited from him.
Her ability to intimidate others on the tip of a hat.
“No,” she growled back at him. She took a deep breath. It had taken her a while, but she refused to be ashamed of who she was regardless of her blood relation. She would have no problem using the very things she inherited from Joker against him. She might have gotten most of Harley’s personality, she might have inherited her mother’s habit of falling in love hard, fast, and obsessively, but she also had Joker’s defiance. His bone-deep inability to be stopped from doing exactly whatever the fuck he wanted.
And then, there were Marinette’s own traits. The ones that were completely her own, developed over her life organically. Like her refusal to bow down to bullies, her creativity, her ability to take even the most chaotic situation and see some sort of balance and sanity in it that she could use to her advantage.
That she WOULD use to her advantage. The shadows she saw move out of the corner of her eye gave her the chance to do exactly that, she just needed to buy a few more seconds. Just a few more seconds.
“Excuse me?” Joker growled right back, his own intimidation, honed over more years than Marinette had been alive and thus much more potent than her own, reading its ugly head as he stalked towards her. His face was pulled down into an ugly snarl, his shoulders tensed and back straight as he glared right at her. From his spot on the metal walkway, he was easily able to reach over the railing and grab her chin in one pale, viciously strong hand. “I think you’re misunderstanding something here, little Marionette. I’m your father. Half of your life came directly from ME. That makes you my puppet. You exist to follow my orders,” his right grip suddenly let go, leaving behind the beginnings of a bruise as his entire demeanor changed from angry to cheerful. He spread his arms as if gesturing to the whole chemical plant victoriously, and an unnaturally large smile curved over his lips and bared yellowing teeth at her. “But that’s okay. I’ll forgive you this time, you haven’t learned any better yet. That’s why we’re here. We need to cleanse you of all those icky bad habits you’ve learned up until now, all you need is a little,” he bounced in place with a wicked smirk to illustrate his next words— “jumpstart. A little acid goes a long way to enlightenment you know, you’ll see my side of things in no time. And with my blood in you, you’ll make a better sidekick than that idiot Harley ever did. I can sense it, you’ve got a real talent for Chaos in you, it’s exciting, Heheeeheheee! Now then, we should probably speed things along before our family reunion is cut short. Hang in there, my little Marionette,” the man actually had the gall to spin in place while humming a tune cheerfully before all but dancing over to the lever that held Marinette’s length of chain in the air over the vat of chemicals below her. “Everything will clear up in that little head of yours in just a second!”
There! Right as Joker pulled the switch to lower her into the bubbling vat underneath her, Marinette was able to finish untying her hands. She couldn’t contain a small yelp as gravity flung her body forward, leaving her upside down on the chain for a brief moment. That was when the chain started lowering rapidly, and Marinette was barely able to rip the rope off of her ankles in time to swing off of it and onto the metal walkway that came up right next to the giant metal container of liquid death and insanity. Joker had barely enough time to shout in rage before the windows near the ceiling shattered, admitting the city’s vigilantes themselves. Batman, Nightwing, Red Robin, Red Hood, Robin, and evening Black Bat all landed on the same metal platform above Marinette’s head that Joker was still on, buying the teen time to start running. But she didn’t go towards the exit right away, instead heading right up the stairs into the thick of the fight. Robin briefly separated from where Joker was managing to hold his own, goons flooding from side doors to inhibit the heroes in their attempt to bring their boss down.
The katana-using vigilante kept one eye on Marinette the whole time, suspicious of why the girl would come back up if not to help her father. But that wasn’t what she did, instead she flipped and kicked and punched her way through the quickly growing sea of Joker thugs until she reached a small pink purse that had been abandoned near the lever that had nearly sent her into liquid insanity. Three thugs surrounded her right as she snatched the purse up and slung it over her shoulder, but Robin barely had the chance to head over before she was heaving the men, who were all easily three times her size, over her shoulder and was slamming elbows into soft spots and the side of her hand into pressure points. By the time Robin got to her side, all three men were unconscious and bound to wake up in utter agony.
Marinette glanced up, getting ready to haul Robin over her shoulder as well before she realized who he was. She let her shoulders relax just a tick, sighing in relief before returning her eyes to scanning their surroundings. She shot him a brief grin.
“Good thing my adoptive mother, Mom, Momma Ivy, and Auntie Selina all made sure I knew how to take down a small army on my own, huh?” She asked rhetorically before they were both unceremoniously dragged back into the giant brawl.
—*—*—*—*—*
“Nettie-pie!”
“Marigold!”
Harley and Pamela Quinzel-Isley shoved down anyone and everyone who dared block their direct path to their daughter. The girl of the hour stood next to the bat clan, a shock blanket held tightly around her shoulders as she did her best to finish her statement to both the vigilantes and Commissioner Gordon.
“You untied yourself… from a ship-grade knot in high quality rope… with a phone charm?” They heard Gordon ask incredulously, to which Marinette could only give a lopsided smile. That was when her mom and stepmom crashed into her, enveloping her in a nearly suffocating hug.
“Gah— mom— momma Ivy—“ Marinette flailed in their arms for a bit before finally getting her head free and continuing her statement as if she didn’t have two of the most dangerous women in the city still giving her a bone crushing hug. “That’s better. Yes, Commissioner. You see, I realized when I was in the car with Joker, while I was pretending to still be unconscious, that one of the charms on my phone had pretty sharp corners that I could use like a serrated edge if I had enough time. So I carefully detached it from my phone, and held it in my palm. It took almost an hour, but once Joker noticed I was awake I kept him talking so that he didn’t notice what I was doing even as he tied me up to that chain. Really, it’s just lucky that I was able to get it worn down in time,” Marinette rubbed the back of her neck with a nervous chuckle. “But regardless, I think Batman and his partners,” she nodded to the listening vigilantes just to the side of her. “Were close enough that I would have been caught anyway, I just wanted to make sure they had less work to do. The sooner I freed myself, the sooner ‘Daddy Dearest,’” she grimaced as she mockingly used the same term Joker had tried to get her to say earlier that night. “Could go back behind bars where he belongs.”
“Oh my little Nettie-cake,” Harley cried, finally pulling back from the hug long enough to wipe her cheeks. It was clear that she had been crying for a while, and her colorful pigtails were mussed and tangled from where she must have been tugging on them in worry. “You were right. I’m so sorry, I never should have let you come to Gotham when I knew he was out of Arkham.”
Marinette was quick to shake her head frantically, pulling her arms out of Ivy’s hold so she could grasp Harley’s shoulders firmly. “No. No, Mom, I’m fine! And besides, we knew I couldn’t stay secret forever. I really like staying with you and Momma Ivy! Everything turned out fine though, and he’s headed back to Arkham. It’s okay.”
“It’s not okay, Nettle,” Pam argued, distracting herself by running her hands through Marinette’s bangs. She had only known the girl for two years, but that was more than long enough for her to consider the teenager as her own. “He took you right out from under our noses. You were supposed to be safe in our home, and he still got to you. That’s not okay. We weren’t able to protect you like we should have been. Maybe you should go back to Paris early.”
“What?! No way!” Marinette argued, eyes wide. “This is the first time I’ve been able to ever visit you guys in Gotham, I’m not letting some psycho sperm donor keep me from enjoying time with my family! I came here knowing full well that it was dangerous. I’m not gonna just run away after one bad experience.”
Harley snorted, and then devolved into uncontrollable giggles. “Heh— psycho sperm donor. Good one, sugar!”
Marinette smiled and rolled her eyes good naturedly at her mom’s usual immature antics. Seeing as Gordon had walked away muttering to himself a short while ago, Marinette pulled herself the rest of the way away from her moms and turned to the vigilantes. Without a second’s pause, she bowed to them just like her Maman Sabine taught her.
“Thank you for helping save me. I know it’s probably a shock that I’ve been kept secret from you guys all this time, but I hope you don’t lump me in with the likes of the green-haired half of my DNA. I’m staying with my Moms in their apartment, if you guys decide to patrol by our place like I suspect, I’ll leave some baked goods and coffee out for you on our patio. It’s the least I can do for you all after tonight. And don’t be too hard on Auntie Selina. Me and Mom swore her to secrecy, even from you guys.”
Batman jerked a little at the mention of Catwoman’s real name, jaw twitching for a second. Behind his cowl, his eyes narrowed. Marinette laughed, easily reading his body language and expression.
“She never told me who you are, but she didn’t exactly hide it either. It was easy to put the last pieces together on my own. But don’t worry, SHE swore me to secrecy too. I won’t tell anyone.
“How the hell are you related to the Laughing Asswipe from Hell?” Red Hood blurted out, his confusion clear even from behind his hideous helmet. Marinette burst into giggles, and both Pamela and Harley smiled knowingly.
“Mom gave me up for adoption when I was born, so I spent my whole life in Paris up until now,” she admitted. “Mom didn’t visit me for the first time until I was eight, and she and my adoptive parents are so awesome that it must’ve suffocated the worst traits from his DNA before they had a chance to develop,” she guessed out loud with a good natured smile.
Batman grunted. Marinette knew that one run-in wasn’t enough for them to trust her. After all, she was still the biological daughter of their arch enemy. But she didn’t mind, she understood the caution even if she didn’t fully agree with it. They weren’t outright hostile, despite the fact that Robin had never stopped glaring at her since they fought back-to-back against the mob of thugs earlier. She could live with their suspicion, as long as they continued to not be outright rude or mean to her.
At least she could empathize with Adrien now, whenever she figured out how to break it to him that Hawkmoth was definitely Gabriel and couldn’t be anyone else. Hopefully she could help soften the blow for him a little.
Harley and Ivy were starting to herd Marinette towards their car and take her back home, where they could continue to smother her in care and make sure she didn’t have even a scratch on her, when Robin’s voice stopped them all in their tracks.
“You are a surprisingly capable combatant.”
Marinette froze, blinking in surprise for a second before turning to stare at Robin in shock. The rest of the Bat Clam was doing the same, nobody expecting Robin of all people to be the first to directly complement Marinette. He tutted, crossing his arms, but never moved his gaze away from Marinette’s eyes.
“But your form could use some work. Most of your style is incredibly improvised, which I can appreciate since you do it well, but you would benefit from more structure in your fighting. I will set up a time and place for us to spar. We start in two days, if you think you can handle it.”
It took a while for what Robin said to sink in, and another few seconds for Marinette to decipher what his semi-aggressive, order-phrased proposal really meant. And she smiled.
“It’s a date.”

Woo! This started off a little rough, but I really like how it ended up! Thank you, Anon!

I read your new fanfic for JayKyle week (along with all the others) Fear and really loved it! (And for my next part just remember I like Kyle from what I've seen and him as White lantern seems cool but super OP for no real reason (but I haven't read comics so sorry))
With all these fics it makes me have thoughts (no mean to bash but why is Kyle even white lantern. From what I've seen (which is not a lot so I get it if I'm just being ignorant and unconsciously putting down the characters that aren't my fave 😥) it just seemed like OP move to make him stronger)
But onto what I hope doesn't come off as putting down a character for my own fave (and if that's what it is I don't mean it). But I keep on having thoughts of White lantern Jason.
Rather if (inspired by your fic) Jason goes into the pit and comes out a Red lantern, goes to space after a bit then goes back to Talia (there wasn't really much in space for him, and nothing with the bats anymore, but Talia?). Then when training/thinking about what Bruce should have done and Gotham gets a orange ring. Then maybe a Black ring while being Redhood (or however Jason would do it in this world). Then after the Black ring or after the pit madness cools down he realizes what he's done and gets a Yellow ring.
Then maybe the next ones would be Indigo, Violet, Green, Blue.(White)
And plusepoints if Jason meets people within this time. Like Bruce never really learns that its Jason rather if it's because he never went to Gotham or didn't stay long enough for the bats to find out. It's just one day this guy with at least one of the "bad" power rings shows up (Jason would show up for world crisises) and completely obliterate some guys. And everyone would be like "this guy is scary". And then he'd continue to show up with more and more ring and everyone is shocked.
.
.
.
I also like the idea of Jason and Kyle both being Green lanterns in space after Hal becomes Parallax. Kyle hates Jason because he's always telling Kyle what to do and kinda calling him stupid (Jason is just worried that this guy with like zero training is going to go out into space (with no plan) and get hurt or mess everything up. So Jason is just trying to show him how to be a hero/vigilante and Kyle. Isn't. Listening.(que Jason thinking Kyle is so stupid and stubborn and pretty and F#CK)
Thank you, glad your enjoying it all.
Its all good. Comics are confusing half the time, and contradictory. Can be a bit difficult to read, let alone understand what's happening when or where or why sometimes.
Kyle being op as White Lantern, that's to be expected tbh. He became WL because he managed to get chosen by all the seven rings (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet) and learned how to weild each of their individual powers. So he's not just weilding the power of one Lantern corps at that point, he's hitting seven plus whatever additional boost you'd expect to get from being WL. (pretty sure they did it this way to serve as a parrallel to the different rays of light and how when your eye sees all of them it makes white and when there's none it sees black.) I can see where you could see it as a move to make him way too overly strong, but another thing I'd say is it separated him from Hal both with plot and character wise. I've seen some people say that Kyle feels like DC just wanted a younger Hal, that they're not distinct enough, by giving him this thing he's getting something Hal and by extension no other characters had/held onto (as far as I'm aware the only other time we've seen WLs is in blackest night and that obviously didn't stick past that event). It also gives us that bonus Hal is extremely strong in Will but Kyle is intuned across the whole board. But that's all just my speculation and what I've gotten. And this is comics, where the rules and Canon are constantly changing to suit whoever's writing today.
I have thought of WLJason for a bit, kind of playing with the idea of how he came back to life and the WL power is supposed to be life. So you could argue channeling all the rings together to create the white one would be easier, the problem of course comes with getting the rings to him and not getting overloaded on all the power and emotions that come with them. A few have been shown to manipulate or change the wearer's emotional and mental state so you could play with the fear and struggle of that too (specific ones that come to mind being red, indigo, and violet). But you could mess around with how the rings work to fit the story. I do like your idea of him just being this unknown figure amassing this collection of rings without anyone knowing anything. Could play it off as a mystery if told from the bats or league's perspective, or like a sort of thriller if from Jason's.
Usually I think of Jason as WL in a situation where most of the League has disappeared, maybe through brainiac or some alien invasion or some supervillain we've never heard of. Of course with the League's disappearance someone has to step up and do something and after fighting with himself Jason does that. There are younger heroes and sidekicks just running around putting themselves in danger with no backup, he has to do something. At some point he gets a ring, either blue for the hope he's bringing to the people/that he has for finding the League, or green because he's not about to let anything else happen (plus the guardians are like, where the hell did our lanterns go? All six of them? This is clearly an emergency, we need someone there, now.) Over time he starts amassing the other rings and he becomes the WL. With the new power and this new team he's had to build from scratch within the last however many months/years he finds the missing League members and get them back. Cue the shock as everyone tries to figure out how this happened.
Ooh, new Green Lantern Kyle plus also new Green Lantern Jason could be fun too. Could almost go like a buddy cop route with it if you wanted, Jason tries to be the serious one while Kyle's just trying to enjoy himself. He gets it's important and all but c'mon man, we can go to space, that's so cool. Add in some mutual pining, the oh no this assholes really hot moment, and we're on our way. Since it's just became GL Kyle you could play it off as Jason just came out of the Lazarus Pit maybe too(maybe the pit madness didn't hit as bad here, or his will is strong enough to fight through it) so you can play up the young love aspect too.

Bio!Dad Bruce Wayne AU - Super Meet
Initial idea | How it Happened | Addition by iggy-of-fans | Reply to iggy’s Addition | Summer Begins | Summer Part 2 | Supers Meet (you are here) | Scarecrow Interlude |
SO we have two ways that the Parisian Super Squad meets the Batfam.
The first, which I’m only writing down because I cannot forget about it, and its hilarious is: the Super Squad gets to Gotham, gets Mari’s texts, gets to their hotel room, throws their stuff in, transforms, and starts running around looking for her. They find her walking around the fashion district with the Wayne’s. Adrien, as Chat Noir, spies Marinette first. And, in typical fashion, acts first and thinks later.
So basically the Wayne’s watch a young, blonde, male version of catwoman throw an incredibly expandable baton between them and Mari, jump down, pick her up. Say “Bonjour. Au revoir.” And then make his expandable baton extend again and carry the now screeching Marinette to the top of the building where the rest of the Super Squad is waiting. Luka is going to strangle him. Holy shit. Chat Noir? More like Chat NO-ir!
The Batfam, of course, suits up and starts chasing after them. In full daylight. (These are the perfect opportunity for “Only in Gotham tweets” tbh) They catch up to Marinette berating all of them in incredibly loud and frantic French. As Multimouse. Going on about how irresponsible it was to leave Paris unprotected! Yes she knows Hawkmoth was defeated but it is the principle of the matter!! And they left BEFORE she told them about what happened with her bio!family and Batman! ALSO THEY KIDNAPPED HER IN BROAD ASS FUCKING DAYLIGHT IT DOESN’T MATTER IF THIS IS GOTHAM YOU SHUT YOUR TRAP CHAT!
The whole squad looks so defeated but then Mari starts crying and throws herself into Chat’s arms going on about how good it is to see them and she’s so happy they’re here and they’re so so stupid! And then its a hug pile. Big hug pile. The Batfam looks on in utter confusion bc, again, only like. Two of them know French. Then Batman coughs and they all look up and just. Don’t move. Maybe if they don’t move he won’t see them.
“... I need to be taking Miss Dupain-Cheng back to her family, now.”
“But-!” WHACK (why yes that’s the sound of Marinette kicking at them all)
“You kidnapped a girl in front of her family with no warning, in a very dangerous city. I’m sure her family would like the reassurance that she’s safe.”
So Batman and the Robins take Marinette back to Wayne Manor and Alfred clings to her (like he totally didn’t put everything together already they’re all so obvious). And then the Batfam, minus costume, comes barreling down the stairs and they all tackle Marinette and its another hug pile. Bc holy shit Mari why did you get kidnapped by your so called friends? Oh, they’re stupid? Can relate.
And then. Of course. Guess who shows up at the door. Just peeks their heads in, detransformed of course. “Uh, hi? We’re friends of Marinette? We’re here to visit her?”
Bruce is shrieking like WHY. WHY IS THIS SHIT GENETIC?! Internally. Can’t spill the beans QUITE yet.
Anyway, INTRODUCTIONS GALOR, YADA YADA, Dick and Adrien get along so well. Too well. Kagami and Damien also get along well too (they’re both ready to stab a bitch, don’t test them). Luka is too chill NOT to get along with anyone, unless they insult his friends and partners. Chloe is ready to throw down but also holy shit that’s Bruce fucking Wayne? Damn, Mari. DAMN. Already on social media about this.
(Also listen, I am shipping trash so I’m going to be vague as hell with things but in my brain this will be a poly!partners au so the Super Squad is just dating each other. But for the sake of everyone they could also just be really good/close friends, as they’ll be sharing rooms and be very touchy feeling and such. Its up to you. But just know, I’m just. Like this.)
So it basically just devolves into story sharing and puppy piles and the Wayne’s all looking at the Super Squad with side eyes bc HM. HOW FAMILY. ALSO STOP TOUCHING THE BABY! NO CORRUPTING THE BABY!! THAT’S OURS!!!
WE SAW HER FIRST SO FUCK YOU!
I’M LITERALLY? HER FATHER? FUCK? YOU? YOU CATWOMAN KNOCK OFF???
This is all happening with their eyes btw
And of course. The whole squad follows Marinette out as Multimouse to go meet batman, who Bruce told her had something to talk with her about. And she kinda cries bc SHE’S GOING TO GET KICKED OUT OF THE CITY BC OF HER IDIOTS!
Its not, its the Batfam taking the Super Squad to the Justice League tower. They weren’t expecting so many people but its fine. They’ll make it work.
Because Bruce had called the Justice League for an emergency meeting that night with the tone of voice that clearly said anybody who didn’t show up would have a bat hunting them down and shoving his foot up their ass so far they’ll taste patented leather for the rest of their life. They’ve almost never seen him so angry? And he’s bringing guests? What? The fuck??
Multimouse Marinette gets briefed that, as the current Guardian of the Miraculous, and a hero of Paris, she’ll be there to get a formal apology and an explanation about why a bunch of teenagers had to fight an emotionally manipulative super villain by themselves. Chat Noir is maybe hiding behind the rest of the Miraculous Crew and they’re only kinda notice but don’t think much of it tbh. Adrien does NOT want to be the one to explain that his FATHER was said super villain. save him.
Btw the whole group is having mixed reactions to the idea of meeting the Justice League. Adrien wants to run away but he also doesn’t care? Like. They’re all superhero’s, he gets that they can’t always help, but also. Fuck. He loves being a superhero but having someone with actual experience might have saved them all a lot of heartache. Chloe, meanwhile, doesn’t give a sINGLE SHIT about the JL. Fuck them. Fuck them so hard, so assholes ignored them and they’re going to be high and mighty. She may be a better person now but she will not put up with their nonsense. Not now. Not ever. Fight her. Luka is that sort of calm angry? He’s pissed that they brushed them off but since everything’s over there’s no point in holding onto his anger. There may or may not be a lot of meditating in the Bat Plane on the way there so he doesn’t use his lyre like a fucking BOOMERANG AGAIN and smack them all upside the head with it. Kagami doesn’t care? She’ll threaten them to the ends of the earth should they ever blow off such messages again, but she also just. Has very little emotional investment in them otherwise.
Marinette, of course, is freaking out and pacing and trying to channel her inner ladybug and screaming internally bc why. WHY. She’s angry but she also understands, but she’s still so stressed. just. please. Tiny squeaks.
And okay, they get there, and Batman comes in with ALL the Robins AND all these new kids?
Flash: I’m sorry, you called an emergency meeting because of your extended family?
Diana: HUSH
Because Diana, of course, recognizes them what and who they are. And is screaming bc holy shit? The Miraculous Holders are active again? Do they need their help? Where is Ladybug? Who is the Guardian? She just has. so. many. questions.
And Captain Marvel/Shazam (seriously wtf IS HIS NAME) is fangirling HARD. Because that’s the Miraculous Holders! The ORIGINAL magic users! SEVERAL of his people (Hercules/etc) were Miraculous holders on top of Shazam and HOOOLLLY SHIT THEY’RE HERE! IN FRONT OF HIM! HOLY SHIT!!!
Superman, Green Arrow, and several others are sweating bc uh. UH. OH SHIT THOSE MESSAGES WERE REAL?
Yes. They were real. And now they have Batman in full dad mode demanding an explanation. Several people (Superman, other mutation/alien esc powers) claim they went to Paris to check on the damage but they couldn’t find any, OR the supposed supers of villain.
Multimouse steps forward and starts explains how the Ladybug powers work and if they had bothered to contact them beyond telling them this wasn’t a line of communication to be used for PRANKS, they would know better. Diana chimes in with how she was helped created BY the Ladybug miraculous, etc, why did nobody ask her about this? Hell, why did nobody ask their resident magic user, Captain Marvel/Shazam???
Green Lantern: No offense, but doesn’t this all seem a little far fetched?
Chloe: ... Bitch, you have an alien ring that gives you powers. Shut the fuck up.
So there’s some arguing, back and forth, and Bruce looses his temper a little bit. Smacks his hand HARD on the table. “Enough. It is your job to investigate. It is not your job to leave the saving of an entire city to my fucking daughter, who was barely thirteen at the time this all started. As far as I’m concerned, this can never, ever, happen again. Wonder Woman, Captain, I assume you’d be willing to go through our notifications for any discrepancies?”
And there’s a huge moment of silence. Everyone’s staring at him. Multimouse squeaks. Red Hood just. “Good going, Bats. Real smooth.”
Chat: OH MY GOD YOUR DAD IS BATMAN? WHY DIDN’T YOU SAY ANYTHING, WHY- HOOOOO OH MY GOD YOUR DAD! BATMAN! IS DAD! YOUR DAD WHO IS ALSO-!
Viperion is making wheezing noises and covers Chat’s mouth and then there’s even more yelling and arguing and finger pointing, and Bruce wants a drink. And a nap. In whatever order he can get them.
Basically he gets Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel/Shazam to agree to looking through messages but also gets the hell out of dodge.
Next in, the reactions to all this tomfoolery. Also apparently superhero-ism is now genetic.

Why do you think every other character's problematic canon is taken as writers being bad, the fandom for the most part completely ignoring canons or changing them to portray their faves in a good light, but it's not the case for Dick? Dick's canons, however bad they've been, until Ric most of it is used in fics, almost none of it is dismissed or excused away with "bad writing" That actually includes Dick being insensitive to outright abusive, depending on where you look it's not forgotten.
Also noticeable, other than Ric, a few Devin Grayson arcs and that annual where he cheated on Kory, his mistakes are blamed on him. A fictional character. This is on par with Bruce and Damian’s getting there but how many times people have said Jason isn’t like that it’s ooc writing n how many times has that been said for Dick? Just saying, most of his canon is okay to keep, even if it’s bad writing. If I look at the big picture, in a way Dick is the most hated, even by his own blind fans.
Last anon, what I’m saying is, from looking into all sides of this fandom n ficdom, it seems to me that for characters like jason, fans disregard most of the canon because it’s problematic/ badly written, a lot of canon for Bruce or Damian n Tim (abuse, toxic friendship, manipulation, sexism, murder…) but for Dick barely anything is disregarded. Even if it seems like Dick’s been turned into golden goody two shoes his bad canons aren’t disregarded no matter how much of a fan they are.
Lmao idk, I think Brothers In Blood for example is ignored as much for Dick’s sake as Jason’s. And he’s been running a damn long time; we courteously ignore a lot of weird and kinda sexist or racist stuff that’s a result of having been a teenager in 1962, while not giving as much of a pass to i.e. Damian in 2008.
(Which allows Dick to be effectively clean of a lot of little pecadillo-level flaws because the ones that were canon are no longer considered relevant to the current self, and haven’t technically been canon in 35 years, so there’s effectively nothing there, and you’re free to project an idealized past backward in time.)
But you do have a point about the phenomenon. I think it’s a few different things in play.
1) Dick’s bad qualities don’t really appear in his reputation, so you tend to find them by digging down into the meat and nitty-gritty of his history, which makes them feel more genuine and less like character assassination.
2) Most of the bad or asshole behavior in Dick that people acknowledge and don’t strike from the record doesn’t…taste like the creators put it in there from a place of hostility or dislike toward the character; it’s written sympathetically, and so fits into the overall shape of him as a person better, and so feels less like derailment.
3) A significant subset of it, as such, is written with the intent of making him more interesting as a main character. And it frequently works. Dick is awesome enough he’s in danger of becoming boring if he doesn’t fuck up or demonstrate that he is fucked up occasionally, tho tbh the trauma conga he’s been through is just sad.
4) Dick Grayson fans are not on the whole in a position to feel defensive about liking him. Loving Dick Grayson is a pretty mainstream position.
So they feel safe critiquing him and digging into his flaws and errors, without expecting anyone with clout to pop up and go ‘Ah-hah! You know he has this trait, how can you like him anyway?!’ Nothing shuts down critical thought like defensiveness.
Bruce used to have a similar status, but things changed and he’s been being dragged down and dogpiled so much for so long that his hatedom is large enough that ‘liking Batman as a person’ is now a mildly controversial position that must be defended within the Batman fandom.
For which I mostly blame DC. No forethought. No consistent themes. Only melodrama. Grrr.

Avengers: Endgame Spoiler Review/Thoughts and shit
(if you want me to add more tags to this, just comment or something and I’ll get on it ASAP)
Alright, so I saw Avengers: Endgame this morning. I guess this is going to be a review of sorts? Mostly just me typing out all my thoughts. So yeah, review, theories (ish?) and other things amongst all that.
 I did this last year for Infinity War and it was a huge mess. I decided to actually properly capitalise my words this time so it’s a bit more readable lmao. I’ve sort of had all day (12 hours) to really think about this so hopefully it’s a bit more coherent than my last year’s mindless rambling? I’m already rambling. Welp ;-;
MAJOR SPOILERS UNDERNEATH CUT!! DO NOT PRESS READ MORE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO READ MORE.
.
.
.
Everybody who doesn’t want spoilers gone? This is your last chance.
Ok, first things first, the movie is fucking amazing. There were so many instances where I cried, or laughed, or just really wanted to fucking scream because holy hell this movie was really intense. Honestly, I thought the humour managed to flow into the dramatic scenes really well. There was never a moment where I felt like a joke fell flat or came in at an inappropriate time.
The feels. THE FEELS. The emotions. I can't. I was already sobbing by the time the first 20 minutes were over. A character appears on screen? Tears. Every single time there was a team shot? Tears. Somebody even opens their mouth to say something? Tears. But yeah, this movie made me an emotional wreck and I can't even.
The movie starting off with Clint, and his family turning into dust? Expected, but still incredibly cruel, and still hurt a lot. Like, damn, I knew Endgame was going to be intense, but being reduced to tears in the first five minutes was incredibly unfair and just goddamned hurtful. Clint's dedication to his family was really sweet and I just garghhhhhhhhhh I loved it.
 So yeah. Character deaths. Natasha dying just about ruined my century, so thanks Marvel. I first started panicking when they said they were gonna get the stones, and Clint and Natasha were heading to Vormir. And then it kinda hit me that one of them was gonna have to sacrifice the other for the stone. And then the whole scene with Clint and Natasha trying to beat each other into throwing themselves off the cliff. Dumbasses. Why couldn't they both just live and nobody has to sacrifice anybody? And now I feel depressed again ;-; . On the other hand, I'm sort of happy that Natasha at least died feeling like she'd made amends for her past (she didn't have to she was already amazing :'(( ). Her character arc finished with her sacrifice and wow that's so depressing ;-;;; At least we get to see her in the Black Widow movie one last time? ;-;
 And Tony. I honestly didn't really think Marvel was going to go through with Tony's death tbh. I think it was probably one of the most depressing scenes I've had to witness with my own two eyes ever, and I definitely wasn't ready for it to happen. I fucking broke when Peter started crying and calling him 'Tony' because like, have we ever seen him refer to Tony as anything other than Mr Stark? I fucking lost it man. And Tony had Pepper, and he was married to her, and they had a little house by the lake, and a daughter (his daughter is so precious omg). And now he's dead and she'll grow up without her father I just fucking arGHHHHHHH. Honestly I just feel really attacked and hurt and this movie has ruined me. At least he got closure with his father. That was kinda a really sweet scene, and I cried at that too. I cried at fucking everything in this movie ;-;
But yes, depressing scenes aside, can we just. Take a moment to talk about the final battle? Because that scene was absolutely splendid. I loved how every character got a couple seconds to themselves to just have a little hero moment, and how they did the whole girl power thing with the whole squad and they were so badass and I sort of teared up at that part too because they were all so amazing and I just love them so much and the only thing that would've made that scene better would be if Natasha had been with them but she can't because she's fucking dead oh my god.
But when the portals opened up and all the characters stepped out of them. It looked fucking magical. I swear to God I had So Many Chills. It was just so fucking amazing to watch them all step out as one and yanno…”Avengers, Assemble!”. God bless them all. The audience lost their shit at this bit. Screaming and clapping and it was just absolutely breathtaking to see this scene. Like, there's just this energy, yanno? And the group shots. T’Challa leading his kingdom into the fight. Tony and Pepper’s really cute scene in their armour together. And, can we just take a break to talk about our fucking lord and saviour Steve Rogers? I love that boy so much holy shit. When Thor was about to die, and Mjolnir had flown in and hit Thanos, before flying off to the person who had thrown it. And it’s Steve Fucking Rogers, standing there holding Mjolnir? And he starts walking down the battlefield with his half broken shield in one hand and Mjolnir in the other? That was such a powerful image have I mentioned I fucking love Steve Rogers? But yeah, I love how they carried that on from AoU. But then that sort of begs the question: was Steve really able to lift Mjolnir in AoU but didn’t because he didn’t want to draw more attention to himself, or was he just not able to because he hadn’t reached peak worthiness yet?
Also, the whole New York scene was just amazing, fucking hilarious and just amazing. Who knew that all we needed to make a sequence great was to have a 100% necessary focus on Steve's ass? Jokes aside, it was really nostalgic seeing the whole 2012 New York battle again. I especially loved how they let us see parts that actually weren't in the movie, like the whole 'Avengers running into Pierce' thing. And how HYDRA got their hands on the sceptre. Seeing Steve do the whole 'Hail Hydra' thing to blend in kinda gave me chills lol. And Steve's fight with 2012!Steve was also really amazingly done and I fucking loved that sequence. The whole "I can do this all da-" "yeah yeAH I kNow I knOOW" was fucking hilarious tbh. (And also: "That is America's ass…")
Also, can I say that Steve was just really done with everything in this movie lmao. He was a solid fucking mood honestly. (”Are you shitting me??” “...he’s a baby.” “-.-”) And then his scene with Bucky at the end oh my goddd. “Don’t do anything stupid.” “How can I? You’re taking all the stupid with you.” And honestly I sort of died right there...It’s also this moment I’m realising Bucky probably knew about Steve’s plans, because otherwise they wouldn’t have said goodbye like that if Steve was only going to be gone for a bit. And Bucky wasn’t panicked at all when Steve missed the jump back. So what, does that mean they planned for Steve to have his dramatic ass entrance back into the present by appearing besides the lake? Kind of a funny image lol. Anyway, I’ll stop talking about Steve lmao.
Thor was fucking amazing in this movie tbh. His first scene in the future is hilarious, with the whole drunkard attitude and the beer gut and Korg playing fucking Fortnite Jesus Christ. His scene with Frigga in the movie also made me cry so much. It kinda made me realise he never really managed to get a proper goodbye with his mother before she died, yanno? And now he's finally getting it, and he can go on to the future with the knowledge that his mother is proud of him and believes he's a hero and afilajiopklgskl. Also, the pure joy when he finds out he's still worthy of Mjolnir? Such a sweet happy wholesome character despite all the losses he's gone through ;-; . Although, since he has decided to join the Guardians, does that mean he's going to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 3? And we know how there's been talk of a Thor 4 recently, right? It's probably just code for GOTG3 lol.
And finally, Bruce Banner. It was really funny to see him emerge as a mix of himself and Hulk together, I'm not gonna lie. A lot of people in the audience started laughing when we saw the Hulk emerge in a sweater and jeans or whatever the hell he was wearing. But yeah, Bruce was great. When he volunteered himself to wield the Infinity Gauntlet v2.0? Legendary. But yeah, I honestly don't have much to say about Bruce honestly. Other than the fact that he dabbed at the beginning of the movie. Legendary. And when Scott spilled his tacos so Bruce offered him more with the purest smile on his face? I melted. Legendary.
Anyway, miscellaneous thoughts time. I'm lowkey sort of kinda disappointed Nebula didn't get to kill Thanos? Like, I feel like, if anybody really deserved to kill that asshole, it was Nebula. She's suffered an entire life of torture and abuse from this dickhead, and has been manipulated by him so many times to do his dirty work. And how she still couldn't stop seeing him as a father figure in the end, despite all the terrible shit he's done to her? Actually, that's probably why she didn't get to kill him lol. And also, Sam Wilson is the new fucking Captain America bitches. I really fucking hoped that, if under any circumstances Steve had to give up his shield, it would go to Sam Wilson, because he fucking deserves it. Of course, I wouldn't have minded it going to Bucky, but my poor baby's already been through enough ;-; . Let him rest ;-; (but then, there's the whole Falcon and Winter Soldier show coming up fuck I'm so excited for it lmao).
And also, Valkyrie. Is now. The new Queen of Asgard. I can't even. My baby girl deserves fucking everything :') She deserves the title of Queen so much and I'm so glad that's a new development. Hopefully we get to see more of her in the future and how she fares with the title of leader in Asgard :'D
But yeah, I think that's about it for what I have on characters. So, moving on to theories and sort of plot holes I suppose?
So, have we had any news on what the Loki show is going to focus on? I haven't really been paying enough attention to news on the shows tbh. But if nothing's been confirmed yet, I sort of have a theory. So we know how, when they're trying to get the Space Stone in New York, they fail and Loki gets away with the stone? I'm wondering if the TV show might potentially focus on what he does after he escapes New York with the stone. It's a possibility, I suppose.
And now, finally, one of my biggest…annoyances (? I'm not sure this is the word I want to use but the only other word that's coming to mind is iffs which isn't even a real word so moving on) (edit: issues! I found the right word :D . The word I want to use is issues lol) with the movie is the last scene.
Steggy is a fucking blessed ship, and I love them, don't get me wrong. The plane scene in TFA and the hospital scene in TWS never fail to reduce me to a big sobbing fucking baby. And I'm so fucking happy that they finally got the dance that's been promised to them for so many decades. But the whole thing just doesn't really make sense to me.
So basically, in the earlier parts of the movie, Bruce has already stated that time travel does not work like how we've all been trained to understand from other parts of pop culture. It's not quite travelling to the past, as nothing they do there will affect their future. What I interpreted from that (and I could be wrong, but this is my understanding) is that when they travel to the past, they end up creating a separate branch of events and shit that diverges from the timeline of events that will lead to their present. It doesn't erase their present, but just sort of forms a permanent branch, you feel? So, Steve travelling back to the past in order to live his life with Peggy only to end up in their present again brought in a huge amount of plot holes.
For Steve to have lived a life with Peggy and marry her, that would mean events would change drastically. I doubt they got married in secret, so people must've known 'Steve' was alive and OK. Would that mean the search for the past Steve that's still frozen in the Arctic stop, since they're all assuming he's alive? If that happens, that means the Tesseract would've never been found, and that would've led to a whole bunch of other events that would definitely not allow for grandpa Steve to join up again with the MCU's present timeline, as it would've brought him into a different branch instead.
But, hypothetically, let's say Steve lives with Peggy in secret. They get married in secret, nobody knows he's still alive, they continue with the search, yadda yadda. Now, since Steve is from the future, he would know that SHIELD is being infiltrated by HYDRA, and that Bucky would still be alive and is currently being the Winter Soldier and doing assassin-y shit. And I really, really, highly doubt that Steve would just live a life with Peggy and not interrupt with any of this shit. It's just so against his nature to ignore all of this? So, let's say he does root out HYDRA. That would affect the future. TWS, and everything afterwards would've never happened. So it definitely wouldn't be possible for Steve to return to the MCU's current, present timeline if he lived out his life, as he would've been, once again, on a different, permanently separated branch.
Let's say, hypothetically, he lived with Peggy in secret. Nobody knew he was alive. He knew HYDRA was growing inside SHIELD and didn't do anything. He knew his best friend was being tortured and brainwashed for decades and didn't do anything. Even then, him just living with Peggy and marrying her would've changed all the events and wouldn't have allowed him to just let his branch converge with the present MCU timeline without messing around with some serious science and shit (which is all highly unlikely tbh).
So basically, what I'm trying to say is, the whole last scene is fucked and can't have happened without saying 'fuck-it-all' to the rules established in the movie. But yeah, that was just the one and only glaring issue to me I couldn't stop thinking about. But either way, I loved the way the movie ended with the Steggy scene. It was really beautiful and sweet and just everything we could've wanted for their dance :')) . It was also a really bittersweet sort of tone to end the film on? Absolutely gorgeous.
(edit: wow OK so I made a whole separate post just for this scene because a couple days after I posted this, I realised my thoughts and feelings towards this scene had changed and I had a lot more to say about it. So. Yeah. Here it is.)
But anyway. Shit. That's it. I've spent this whole past year thinking about this movie and waiting for it, and now that I've watched it and it's over, I don't know what I'm going to do with myself. This whole day, I've been feeling incredibly empty honestly. I'm still not quite over Natasha and Tony, and I don't think I'll ever be (which, by the way. Marvel, I'll be sending you the bill for all the emotional trauma you've caused.) But this movie was a bloody masterpiece, and I fucking loved it. The trip down memory lane with the time travel was honestly so incredibly implemented. I was really worried when I realised time travel was going to be involved with this movie, because it introduces a device that can retcon everything and just basically takes away the emotional impact of every event that happens because you can just time travel. But the fact that they introduced the mechanic where you can't affect the past by travelling there does close that issue up. Well done. Very clever.
But, yeah. Fuck. It's over. 11 years, and it went out with a bang. I honestly have no idea how Marvel is gonna top this for the next era. It seems almost impossible, honestly. I just really hope they do, because I would hate to have a franchise as amazing as the MCU end up fizzling out because their most impressive movie came years before the end and they end up never being able to top it. But these are probably just irrational worries.
Anyway, final score. 14000605/1. Would definitely watch again. Just not immediately. I still haven't fully digested the movie, and I still feel really empty and full of emotions at the same time even though it's been more than 12 hours since I've seen the movie. So yeah. Imma wait a bit, and then I'll probs rewatch it.
Anyway, rant over. Hope you enjoyed, I guess? I nearly burst into tears so many times trying to write this fucking thing. If you've seen the movie, feel free to DM me. I'm always up to chat with people lol. And if you haven't seen the movie, what the fuck are you doing reading this? Go watch the damned movie. Christ.
I might end up making edits to this if I think up of more things to talk about. Or maybe I'll make a separate post. I'll probs make a separate post. But anyway. Farewell, y'all. Time to go hide under my blankets and cry until Far From Home comes out.
(Also, this thing is 3069 words. Wow. Jesus Christ. If I put this amount of effort into my assignments, I’d be bringing in straight As. Oops.)

Tbh i completely disregard lobdell’s reboot of jason’s backstory. It sucks so much that I hate him for it. Fucking asshole. Idk why DC let him write RHaTO
So, I’m not as vehemently anti-Lobdell as some. I think he’s a mediocre, sometimes quite good, writer with unfortunate lows when someone isn’t keeping him in line. To put it frankly, I think he’s meh. I’m just bored with him on RH and want to see someone else’s take. But I realize that there’s a difference between my preferences and actual bad writing.
That said, yeah, as I mentioned in a different post not too long ago, I dislike every single alteration to Jason’s history because they’re bad. Or rather, since we have something else to compare them to, they’re bad. And they’re bad because not only are they unnecessary (they don’t streamline or clarify anything), but they actively detract from prior character development.
Despite what some may think, this isn’t just me being salty. The measure of a good retcon is what it adds to the mythos. Swapping Batmobile tires for medicine from a doctor isn’t just a minor, surface change. Getting rid of Sheila is a HUGE fucking deal (not to mention the fact that, while this is happening, we’re also being told Willis’s sob story that attempts to shine him in a better light). It’s literally like saying “Actually, Martha and Thomas Wayne survived the attempted murder and Bruce grew up with loving parents” and pretending that wouldn’t change anything about Batman at all. It alters the tone of every single thing the character has done since his return.
Especially since this is comics, where we can infer, based on things said in current canon, that most of Jason’s post resurrection, pre-Flashpoint adventures still happened. Suddenly, Jason is a lot less tragic. Suddenly there’s a chunk of psychological trauma that just disappears. But the prior origin is what previous authors used to build that character and inform their actions. A watered down origin undermines the emotional impact of the past on a characters past and present actions.
A good example from my own writing, it’d be like going back to the first chapter of WAtPG and making the interaction with Slade and Jason consensual and changing literally nothing else. Suddenly, Jason’s actions become at best overreactions to the situation and at worst they don’t make sense at all.
It’d be like taking the circus away from Dick; pretending most of Tim’s friends haven’t died; or that Damian wasn’t trained by the league. Suddenly a lot of their interactions, a lot of their motivations and past exploits are thrust into a different light.
But hey, if you like Lobdell’s origin, good for you! That’s great! Genuinely. I’m glad you found something you enjoy! I like plenty of objectively bad things with much less potential than Lobdell’s retconned origin (there’s this movie, Kung Pow, I think? that is probably one of the worst in existence, it’s really fucking bad, but I think it’s stupid and fun).
[And on a side note, this has nothing to do with you, anon, you are 1000% great. But the whole discussion about Jason’s canon past across my blog a few days ago led to some comments and I just want to take a moment to clarify for anyone who may be unclear… this is my blog. It’s a comics/fic blog. I generally stay pretty positive about comics. I generally stay pretty positive in general. It’s generally pretty difficult to ruffle my feathers. That said, if I want to complain about something in comics that bothers me, I will do so. I am not afraid to admit when I’m wrong but I also won’t suffer fools who think they can stalk and berate me because I don’t like something they apparently do. I respect people’s opinions even when they’re not my own and I enjoy discussing differences or joking about them. Literally the only thing I expect from people old enough to be on my blog at all is that they do the same.]

ENDGAME
Okay. I definitely won’t be able to sleep today, so I might as well pour out all my Endgame feelings right now.
First thing first, I was probably in the WORST POSSIBLE HEADSPACE to watch this film; national elections where fascists could take over Congress (spoiler alert, they didn’t. I literally just cried with relief for over ten minutes) AND being extremely concerned about characters you over-identify with on the same day, all after the worst year of your life, apparently don’t mix well. Who would have thunk.
(btw, I was spoiled as I was voting about That Very Big Thing; everyone who follows me probably can guess what I’m talking about. I almost threw hands tbh. Then almost cried over a dozen times on the way to the theatre because the stress of the day was killing me ugh).
All this to say, my head is a mess right now, I don’t even know if this post is going to make any sense, and I will probably take time to process certain things and have a definite opinion on them LOL. But well, here is now.
And err. Warning for a brief mention of suicide ideation?
(crossposted to dreamwidth, livejournal, and pillowfort)
TONY (& CO)
– In case it wasn’t obvious, the thing I was spoiled about? Yeah, it was Tony’s death. FML. I mean, even if I wasn’t spoiled, I would’ve seen it coming as soon as we saw him after the five years jump, lbr (happily off-screen married to Pepper? With an adorable daughter? Pepper resigned to the possibility of losing him instead of begging him to stay like in IW? And then the movie kept hammering it home LMAO; that and a lot of things for the mains that I kind of saw coming from less than a third into the movie, which IDK if it’s because I was particularly intuitive, or the foreshadowing was that heavy handed xD).
Obviously, I’m not rocking your world if I tell you I’m extremely heartbroken, I guess. Especially because, as I said, my emotions were already all over the place. And seeing a character I adore, and in who I project a lot of my issues on –including, yes, suicidal issues–, sacrifice their lives (no matter how poignant, and moving, and well-written it might be) was incredibly hard for me. So, yeah. I’m going to have to deal with that for a while I guess. Which I plan to do by writing a bunch of Fix-It and Not Actually Fix-It fics ASAP.
But. I mean, out of all the endings Tony could have, this was always my second choice for him. And he was grandiose in this film. He figured out time travel. He created a gauntlet capable of holding the Infinity stones. Beings far more powerful than him were trying to carry that gauntlet to the van and none of them thought to use it, but he did. He was completely vindicated. He is the Saviour of the Universe.
And he looked gorgeous the entire time, which is truly important for me.
– In all seriousness, the thing I take to heart the most is that
his legacy remains intact
, and it’s inspiring, and heroic, and poetic, and prosperous. Clearly, without him, my enthusiasm for the universe will never be the same, but one thing that worried me is that I wouldn’t want anything to do with Marvel for a while after this film, and that’s not how I’m feeling; I’m very much looking forward to further parallels and homages to him in my ever-growing list :P
Tho, honestly, I’m kind of side-eyeing myself for the fact that, the one time!!! I go and fall in love with a male lead character, he happens to be genuinely heroic and self-sacrificing, instead of just using those concepts as lip-service and getting to have his cake and eat it too LMAO. I mean, sure, given my reactions to those characters, the AeJons Snowrgaryens of the world, I wouldn’t have liked him so much if it was the case, but dammit. It’d be nice to experience that high sometime xD
– The Iron Fam is the best part of this movie for me. Tony’s relationship with Morgan was way too adorable to handle it; Pepper was enormous and so poised (and the scene where they circle around each other in their armors… poetic cinema); I didn’t get enough Iron Husbands to satiate me (Rhodey’s caress should have been skin to skin!), but I loved what we got; Happy is an assholes who made me cry ABOUT CHEESEBURGERS.
And let’s not talk about Peter, OMG. My heart. And Harley appeared to Tony’s funeral! Though, honestly, the person I missed the most there was Christine Everhart, who should have been there just on the basis that I like her (plus, ya know, IMO she was important to Tony’s origin dammit).
I’m going to consider Nebula an honorary member, tbh. Her scenes with Tony in space cut me deep; and she and Rhodey are buddies!
Natasha and Fury (I loved his appearance *sniffs*) are honorary members too, because fuck it. They both appeared first vis a vis Tony on his movies, and have two of my favourite relationships with him, and I say so.
– Related to that, one Failure™ of this movie, is not providing a Nat & Tony one-on-one scene. Seriously, I can’t believe they didn’t realize how necessary that was. But I ADORED the scene where they and Bruce are lying down bouncing ideas about the stones (it made me softly whisper “ot3” LOL); it was possibly the only “Avengers” moment that worked for me –other than Clintasha, but that’s on a different league tbh.
I wanted more Nebula & Tony scenes too; I would’ve loved to see Tony interact with Past!Nebula. Yes, realistically, he would probably had made her LOL, but. I needed it. it’s definitely on my to-write-list :P
– I wanted just some positive interaction between Carol & Tony to counteract Current Comics Bullshit and I got Carol rescuing him, smiling beatifically at him, and Tony basically saying she was Da Bomb and the Avengers should follow her lead instead of keep sucking xDD So that was nice.
– I loved the scene at the beginning where he fucking SNAPS, and goes for Steve’s throat. It was probably my favourite scene. It’s resolution with everyone’s reactions and after the flashforward kind of… totally sucked, but whatever. Still amazing.
– The only part of his storyline that I HATED, and I mean absolutely loathed, was his scene with Howard. Jesus Fucking Christ. They went with the most simplistic take they could have, didn’t they. I haven’t felt more insulted in the theatre in my entire life, and my family made me watch both Ocho apellidos movies with them, so Marvel? That’s a feat. The moment where he says his father hit him with a belt so we (Tony included) are supposed to think, well, at least Howard wasn’t physically violent with his son, hooray?
And I think we’re supposed to take his “wouldn’t want my son to turn like me” as motivation for Tony’s actions and like… newsflash, but Tony has “put the worlds’ needs over his own gain” since Iron Man. Fucking. One. It’s literally what he does in this film, because we’re shown that, despite having achieved his happy ending, he was still trying to figure out time travel even if it meant risking his future.
Seriously, if they wanted me to be moved, they should’ve used Maria. Or hell, Edwin Jarvis was right there. And if whitewashing of Howard’s abuse becomes one of those MCU things that ends up bleeding into the comics, I’m gonna riot. Ugh.
BTW, just thought about this. Has anyone confirmed what the H. of Morgan’s second name stands for? Because my immediate idea was that it was for Happy, but now the fear that it might relate to Howard has entered my brain and I need someone to drive it out.
OTHER FAVES :P
– I am a lot more heartbroken over Natasha’s death than I expected to be. I like her character on paper a lot, but sometimes the writing or the acting don’t agree with me; neither was the case in this movie. I thought she was incredible. I loved the scene where she’s leading the post-dusting council. So losing her in this movie, of all movies, really hurts. And I understand why people who love her would be unhappy, and even furious –to some extent, so am I, tbh; specially because I don’t think she was properly honoured by the other characters after the fact–, but I do think it was extremely fitting for her arc.
– I loved Nebula’s storyline; how she was able to form new relationships, and what I know will be enduring friendships. Her interactions with her younger self were fascinating too; I loved that she perfectly followed the time-travel mumbo-jumbo. And she was so adorable at the beginning. Her bond with Tony didn’t have as much screen time as I wish it had, but the rest of the movie really shows how much his kindness touched her, and I love it. I’m a bit sad she didn’t get to kill any Thanos, tho.
– Okay, putting him in the “faves” section doesn’t exactly feel right, but whatever: I maintain that Thanos is a great villain. I don’t know what people that say otherwise are thinking. He’s the perfect foil for so many characters, and he is genuinely villainous; he is so delusional and self-righteous (seriously, his “solution” for the Snap 2.0 was… o.0) his plans feel sincerely menacing. He perfectly spells out his own doom; narratively speaking? He’s a joy of a villain to me. And I loved how he reacted to the information about the future; specifically, that upon learning about Nebula’s “betrayal”, his tactic was SOFTENING towards past!Nebula to make her even more eager to please him.
– Carol didn’t have much screen time, but I liked what she got (like, nothing too deep, but I didn’t expect much). I liked the Carol/Rhodey nod, even if I’m not sure how I feel about the ship in this incarnation. I wanted to hear something about Maria, but welp.
And on a shallow note, I kind of love that fandom absolutely freaked out about her wearing lipstick on a scene (while praising the “~natural no-make-up make up, effortlessly feminine without looking like you’re actually trying” look that she sported on CM, and disregarding that while yes, it was a troubling look that fitted a pattern across movies, A4 was made first so it was hardly a “betrayal” of the semi-grunge style), for the movie to go and give her the butchest look she’s ever gonna get on film lmao (and I will be pleasantly surprised if they’d keep a look like this for a movie where she’s the lead and not a supporting character, tbh).
– Sam and Bucky were So Soft™ with each other OMG. If their show doesn’t have at least ONE episode centred on them going undercover as a married couple, I’ll write it myself, because they are perfect for it (especially if you add some of the early banter/antagonism).
Btw, Sam getting the shield? The only good part of that mess at the end LMAO.
– I have mixed feelings for the Alt!Gamora development. I just… really loved the GOTG-IW versions of her character and her ship, and she’s gone and just… :( And that type of pseudo-amnesia/relationship do-over thing can be so badly written sometimes… But she’s back, and if done right, the role-reversal between her and Nebula could be gr10 for GOTG 3. We’ll see.
THE BAD™
– I know if I walked up right now to the Russos, and asked them why they hate Thor so much, they wouldn’t even understand the question. They would say, but we love Thor?? He’s such a fun character?? Or some version of the sort. They can fool themselves, but not me. You don’t do this to a character for whom you feel a modicum of respect, IMO.
Like, the fat-phobic jokes? The way they dealt with his substance abuse? How his arc about stepping up and assuming responsibilities ended by… him throwing away his responsibilities. Losing his hammer was a turning point for him to relearn the lessons about value and worthiness and power he’d been taught, and then… this movie. I couldn’t even fully enjoy his scenes with Frigga because I was so appalled by it all.
His only great scene, IMO, was how horrified and out of it he sounded after killing Thanos. I really felt that.
I didn’t even enjoy that he passed his power to Valkyrie because… unlike with Sam, that basically came out of nowhere. If they at least had given them ONE more scene at the beginning; seriously, it writes itself: just put her in the room when Bruce and Rocket are trying to convince him to go with them, and have her being the one that does it. Make her help him the way HE helped HER in Ragnarok; show her trying to help him and getting angry and frustrated. IDK, something.
And I know I’m probably alone in this because everyone around me practically creamed their pants when it happened but… having Steve control Mjolnir felt like adding insult to injury. Not just lifting it (which I would’ve been annoyed by too, given that they rewrote the new Asgardian mythology just to have this scene lol), but commanding it as only Thor did. Just. How much more are you going to take from Thor, people.
I want to make it clear that my problem is with the execution, not with Thor going through this; that, written differently, with more care, I could have loved.
– I’ve always been conflicted with MCU Steve. I loved the Captain America old comics I read as a child, and 616 Steve was A Hero. So I wanted to love MCU Steve just as much but… it often felt that he just didn’t measure up.
Well, conflict over. I don’t like the guy. Reading Man Out of Time just a few months ago probably isn’t helping (and yeah, that’s not a fair comparison, but it illustrates why I look at 616 Steve, and I adore him, and then I turn to MCU Steve and just… this guy is not worth my time).
I couldn’t even enjoy the ship, because my feelings for it come solely from my love for Peggy, and she didn’t even get to say a word? Add to that the fact that an endless loop of “OMG HE MADE OUT WITH YOUR NIECE. NOW HIS NIECE. RUN” was going through my head the entire time (the fact that Sharon was absent from the funeral when EVC acted in half of the MCU Russos films is hilarious in light of this xDD).
 MISC
– I really enjoyed some of the heist shenanigans. Especially Tony’s plan for a distraction being GIVING HIS PAST SELF A HEART ATTACK. How extra and edgy can my man be xD Tony and Scott are A Duo.
– I was thinking that Alt!Loki might make an appearance in GOTG3 if Thor is really a part of it, and how that might mix, but then a friend reminded me about his show, so I guess that’s where they’re going? IDK, The Avengers’ Loki is probably the one I liked the least out of all his appearances, so unless I hear something really good about it, I’m not picking it up.
– IDK if it’s because I was desensitized, but the white suits and Clint’s hairdo didn’t look as ugly on the final product?
– So THAT was the gay character Feige went on about. I knew he was going to be an unnamed nobody with less than five lines LMAO. Stop being cowards and give us Danbeau and WinterFalcon.
– I was very touched about Ned and Peter’s hug (MY BBYS), but isn’t Ned supposed to be five years older? AKA out of high school? I mean, he looked like he had missed Peter, not like he had disappeared with him too? And the entire class is going on a trip in FFH? Is it because of nostalgia/a friends thing? Were all of them dusted? Because poor teacher then xDD
– I think a lot of emotional threads were unceremoniously dropped, but other than the ones I’ve mentioned, I’m more indifferent towards their recipients so… eh. A great example is the fact that Bruce’s conflicting journey with Hulk was solved off-screen LMAO. Some of the humour felt extra-cringy too tbh.
– I have Tony-related fanart as my lock screen, my computer background, and my phone background. I get teary eyed with just looking at them. I should think of changing them, but I wont xD
– I know I’m forgetting things but whatevs, I can talk about them later.

Sam Reviews Titans
Because why? Because I had a lot of feelings about this episode, that’s why.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Episode 2: Hawk and Dove
Holy shit this guy’s freaking crazy. Nobody starts torture with penis sheers, Jesus.
Aww Hank and Dawn are cute. They’re officially my new favorites. Also Hank, buddy, you might want to get the new hip sooner rather than later, you’re looking a little worse for wear tbh.
Also Dawn’s a dove and I love her.
Oh my god the dove roost. I repeat: THEY ARE MY FAVORITES.
Aww Hank, poor baby needs some morphine and some viagra, stat.
Yeah Dick just wanted marshmallows.
Jesus drained of blood? Also why is everyone in this show an asshole, care to explain Mr. ME?
AH! A wild Donna Troy appears! Not really but Dick wants to call her which is good enough for me. I want her on this show almost as badly as I want Jason.
Aww Alfred’s still there for Dick. Gotta love him.
Of course Rachel watches GoT. Of course she does. Lol Dick “should you be watching that” Grayson is such a mom.
Rachel goes snooping and finds trauma. What a surprise.
This Nuclear Family perpetually lives in like the 50s, and also they scare me.
This time on Rachel and Dick Exchange Trauma: We Are Orphans and Everything Still Sucks.
Wow Dickie, did you just sleep with everyone? You know your relationships with your family/friends would be better if you could keep it in your damn pants. Also Dawn’s such a sweetie.
Oh my god Grayson what dumb thing are you doing with that obvious package of cash, and your guilty face? Something stupid I’m sure.
Dude is literally paying his friends to take this child off his hands. Babe, you could not be acting more Bruce-like if you tried. Expect actually you’re worse because Bruce never turns down a lost child to adopt. Also you haven’t become anything but more violent so calm down, capiche?
Hank, you’re overly manly aggression is showing. Poor guy’s overcompensating for his performance issues.
Also I’m like 72% convinced that this show is just an excuse for everyone and their mother to say fuck every five minutes.
“Why did you hurt her?/I didn’t mean to./That’s not an excuse.” Damn Rachel calling him tf out. U go girl.
Oh yay gotta love the jealous boyfriend and the ex beat down. Always my favorite. Just live for it. (You go Rachel, using your evil demonic powers to shut that shit down, I was already getting tired of it and it was only on screen for like 1.5 seconds)
Holy shit Amy, the correct response to a crying child is never “What the fuck?”
Also this god damn Nuclear Family is fucking terrifying and I hate them. Poor Amy’s never going to get over this.
Aww Dick “let me come sit down with you and talk about our feelings” Grayson is such a mom.
Yeah Dawn going alone never works. Also thank you for talking some sense into Dick, Rachel. He definitely needs more of your sage advice.
Yeah there’s never only a few of them Hank. As evidenced by your shiny new bullet wound. My god the torturer with the penis fetish got some sheers to the crotch. Damn Dick really does have a sense of irony, doesn’t he? Also my god he’s so violent even Hawk and Dove are scandalized, and they started the episode under threat of penis torture. (Also Dick is so good at his job for real).
Oooh Rachel found the note. That’s going to be bad.
Yeah Dawn does not approve of your lifestyle Dickie.
Yeah Dick trying to leave behind orphans with abandonment issues is never smart. And now Hank’s pissed (this time I don’t blame him). Yeah and Hank, literally the agreesive half of his duo, thinks Dick’s insanely violent. So, doeS SOMEBODY WANT TO TONE IT DOWN, PLEASE?
Ok yeah the Nuclear Family of Awfulness is back. And there does Dick over the edge. Rachel want to help out? Your demonic powers could come in handy here. Just saying.
Oh my god if they killed Dawn I’m never watching this show again. Oh god Hank screaming Dawn gave me trauma flashbacks to Justice League Unlimited.
OH MY GOD IF THEY KILLED DAWN I’M NEVER WATCHING THIS SHOW AGAIN.
And I recognize this evil red eyed raven from the much more light hearted Teen Titans show.
Final Thoughts: Ok just because your show is gritty and adult and shit doesn’t mean everyone and their mother needs to say fuck. Real adults don’t actually say it all that often. Also I’m liking the Dick and Rachel bond, if only Dick would get his head out of his ass. Leaving her with Hank and Dawn makes less than no sense. You know she’s a missing person, if anyone finds her with them they’re going to jail. Also you and Dawn literally had a conversation about how taking in a kid is a huge responsibility. Were you just not going to give them the choice to take on that responsibility? They’re clearly not in the right headspace for it, especially Hank who has all kinds of things he needs to do before he can settle down.
I’m really excited for Donna’s first appearance, too. I have a feeling she’s going to come in, smack some sense into Dick, and solve most of these problems.
The Nuclear Family are psychopaths and I dislike them.
Also, IF THEY KILLED DAWN ALREADY I’M NEVER WATCHING THIS SHOW AGAIN.

Do you think, vission would be fucking pissed off once he found out thanos killed wanda? Cuz like come on, in the movie they said that the mind stone was more of a power source to vission than anything (wich is why they were able to begin to remove it without distorting his data/memories whatever u want to call it), so its obvious that hes coming back in the second infinity war. Besides, wouldnt it just be AMAZING to see our little viz all in his rage mode. 😍 he'd be pissed man
I’m sorry I’m late - I don’t normally get asks and completely missed your message lol.  I also kinda babble a lot when I’m excited, so this is gonna be 100% longer than you expected, I’m sorry.
But, yeah, if it is normal Vision we get back - he’s gonna be angry (at himself and Thanos - in a sort of… personal and impersonal way imo?  Because Thanos didn’t kill-kill her, as in like he personally did it, but he’s responsible for it - and also because Thanos’ plan is just fucked up and disrespects life, which Vision said he’d protect/was on the side of).  The only time the MCU has shown him angry was when Corvus threatened Wanda (when he said, ”Give us the stone and she lives,” or something?  Vision had been kinda sluggish/out of it until then) - there are other arguable scenes, like he was probably angry at Rhodey at the airport in Civil War, but there’s no solid dialogue or visual (like if he’d scrunched up his face angrily) proof.  Vision is a pretty neutral guy until IW imo (and that’s definitely tied into him not knowing he could be distracted in CW - my personal theory is he’s a mixture of naive and willfully ignorant about his emotions because everyone except Wanda had been insisting he’s a machine and can’t have emotions), and even then he’s still pretty subtle and still trying to hide his emotions in favor of helping others/putting others above himself (like, he started crying right before Wanda killed him, and I haven’t seen one (1) post about it!  Boy was comforting her while he was sad and terrified and held on until the literal last second omg I love him so goddamn much).
So, I don’t think we’re gonna get a rage monster if we get angry Vis - something more along the lines of “quiet on the surface to hide the storm beneath” thing.  I also don’t think that’s gonna be his only primary emotion - obviously he’ll be sad, but he’s also gonna feel like shit in general because he had her kill him (and it ended up being for nothing) plus he loves her and she’s gone (and he hasn’t experienced death before this, not on a personal level).  He’s gonna be a bundle of serious emotions, and ngl we’re probably gonna have to rely on fanfic instead of canon to convey that because there’s gonna be a lot in A4 to cover (that is, IF we get normal Vision back - because White Vision is always an option, but they’d have to devote time to Vision, an established side character - and even with the changing of the guard from OG Avengers to New Avengers, he’s not a popular character.  White Vision would need his own movie to be properly portrayed imo (unless they just want to slaughter his character like they did in the comics haha please don’t do this MCU I’m begging you), and I’m not sure they’d do that?  This is quite literally the only thing holding me back from thinking 100% White Vision is coming in A4/beyond lol).
And yeah, the Mind Stone is his power source (quite literally, too, lol - that’s where he gets his super hero powers from.  Sorry, bad joke), but it also doesn’t necessarily have to be his only one or the only thing giving him life/power (which is what Bruce pointed out).  But ultimately, I think it’s needed to hold Vision together.  Because you’re right - taking away the Mind Stone won’t affect his memory banks.  It, however, might affect the way he processes it.  Like, your computer remembers things in its memory that you save (ex. Word docs) and even things you don’t actively save yourself (ex. your web browser search history).  But your computer has no emotional connection to those things - it just has the pure information, the zeroes and ones.  Vision’s brain, since it is based off of an AI, probably operates similarly at a base level (storing things in binary), but he’s got all the emotional and tactile etc things tied to those memories like humans do (for example, you remember what you were feeling when you typed this ask, you can remember the feel of the keyboard on your fingertips, etc).  Removing the Mind Stone might take away that connection he has to sentient life and revert him back to just an AI with a really neat body (aka what most people assume he is/the MCU version of White Vision… because I think White Vision in the comics is an asshole, but JARVIS at least has coding to be polite so they’d be a bit different in characterization).  Vision was established as a life made from many different sources (Bruce brought them up, and Thor’s lightning might’ve also had something to do with it tbh because his lightning is magical, isn’t it??  If not, it sure as hell super-charged Vision’s body) working together, so take away one, yeah, you have the other bits… but you might also take away the special spark that made all of them to blend together and made Vision, Vision and made him sentient (and I’m not trying to say the Mind Stone is what made him sentient - I’m trying to say it might be the combination of everything.  Just in case that wasn’t coming through because I know I can get carried away with explaining the “whys”).
But yeah lol.  I also think he’s coming back in IW:2… just maybe not how we like/know him.  If we do get normal Vision back, I’d 100% love to see him more emotive and upset/angry for Wanda’s death and think it’s amazing, too.  Thanos better watch his back lol.  He’s got a lot of angry/upset supers ready to kill him.  Wow, this is long… I’m sorry.  I kinda went off there.  I’m also not trying to force my opinion on you, either, if that was coming across (since I don’t necessarily agree Vis is gonna be in rage mode) - and I’m sorry if it is.  Also, thank you for this ask??  Idk it just made me happy you spent the time sending me it. (。→ˇ艸←)

Dick is abused by Bruce in canon.
Fandom: ...yeah but not really though, I mean its not like the times with Jason or Tim, now you wanna talk abusive, let’s talk about those....
Dick dies in canon.
Fandom: ...yeah but not really though, I mean it was only for a couple of minutes, its not like the times with Jason or Damian, now you wanna talk death trauma, let’s talk about those.....
Dick was fired as Robin after being shot, with Bruce taking away the name and mantle he’d created to honor his first family.
Fandom: ....yeah, not really though. I mean, its not like that time with Jason replaced by Tim or Tim replaced by Damian, and c’mon, the being fired thing is really only a retcon that didn’t even need to happen, now you wanna talk being fired or replaced or wronged, let’s talk about those....
Dick grows up being subjected to constant racism and classism from Gotham’s upper class.
Fandom: ....eh, still seems like a spoiled rich kid to me. I mean its not like as bad as Jason had it, now you wanna talk tough time growing up with Bruce, let’s talk about him....
Dick is shot in the head and gets amnesia.
Fandom: ...yeah, but not really digging his personality changes, tbh....
Dick is brainwashed and psychologically manipulated and controlled.
Fandom: ....okay but did he have to be such an asshole about it though?
Dick is lost and grieving when believing his father dead, and forced to shoulder impossible burdens and expectations with no clear solution and usually with conflicting expectations heaped on him by multiple different parties he feels responsible for.
Fandom: .....okay but Tim was more hurt and grieving and also why didn’t Dick believe him tho.....
Dick has lost countless friends who’ve died over the years, not all of whom have been brought back to life some way or another.
Fandom: .....I mean, who hasn’t, am I right?
Dick watched his parents die right in front of him.
Fandom: ....okay but at least he had parents who loved him, Jason and Tim and Cass didn’t even have that much!
Dick was thrown into juvie by the very system that was supposed to protect him.
Fandom: ....sure, if you wanna insist on going with the one super angsty take that tbh doesn’t seem all that believable, compared to his siblings’ super realism based origins....
Dick was kicked out or driven away by Bruce at multiple times, in multiple continuities.
Fandom: ....sure, if you wanna insist on going with the two or three super angsty takes on years worth of continuity, but gotta say, seems like you just got a hard on for the dude suffering....
Dick spent months passively suicidal, eventually getting more and more reckless and seemingly with a death wish.
Fandom: ....okay but its like his dad said when dishing out the tough love, he lost sight of the value of his own life and wtf dude, that’s not cool.
Dick saw his circus burned down, everyone in his apartment building killed, a woman shot in the head just for sitting across from him, all simply because these innocent people crossed his path, and him feeling guilty and responsible for each of their deaths because of this.
Fandom: ...yeah but wasn’t it kinda a little bit his fault? I mean, if he didn’t exist, they wouldn’t have died, y’know?
Dick found out that his direct ancestor is an undead assassin for a secret society intent on ruling Gotham from the shadows, and that he was intended by them to be another of their tools since before he was even born, and the circus he loves and remembers fondly from growing up there was complicit in the conspiracy to force him into a life of servitude to the Court of Owls as their personal assassin.
Fandom: ....ugh I just hate how everyone always makes a big deal about Dick Grayson, like he’s gotta be the most special ever, eww.
Dick was battered and guilt tripped by his father into going undercover away from his family for a year immediately following his death and revival, with the rest of his family believing him dead and blaming him for this upon his return.
Fandom: ....like we’re supposed to feel bad for a guy who faked his death and made his family all mourn him while he was off playing James Bond? Pfft.
Dick has lost siblings at various points and grieved for them over extended periods, being extremely affected by their deaths.
Fandom: ...umm, he literally hated Jason though, according to the fact that we said so, and yeah he was sad about Damian dying but then he faked his death so we had to stop caring because fuck that guy.
Dick has struggled with abandonment issues, fear of disappointing Bruce and other related issues, such as his own ongoing battle with people trying to make him into a killer and his own repeated struggle with whether or not he believes its never justified, such as when he killed the Joker.
Fandom: ....that didn’t count, though.
Dick was tortured on multiple occasions, almost to the point of death.
Fandom: ...source?
Dick was left to fend for himself in multiple instances where he’d been there for his family in similar situations.
Fandom: .....mmmm, sounds fake.
Dick was estranged from Bruce for years after being fired, and again after Jason died, with Bruce never reaching out or apologizing in either instance and their estrangement only ending when Dick extended the olive branch and came back.
Fandom: ...oh boohoo. Drama queen.
Dick had to find out from the news that Bruce adopted another kid and also gave him Dick’s mantle, as well as find out from computer files that his brother died, because Bruce never deemed it necessary to inform him of any of these things.
Fandom: ...jeez Dick, sometimes, things aren’t about you. What a narcissist.
Dick’s entire city is blown up by supervillains.
Fandom: .....uh, pretty sure we’d remember that happening.
Dick’s subjected to constant sexual harassment by Dr. Netz while working for Spyral.
Fandom: ....didn’t see it. Sorry. Was busy laughing at Dr. Netz’s jokes about sexually harassing Dick. Look, they were funny, okay?
Dick was raped, not once but twice.
Fandom: .....ALRIGHT! NOW we’re talking! Tell me more, I mean, fuck, that’s so sad and tragic, I wanna know all the details. Who was it, why did they do it, how many times, did Jason kill them like the good brother he is or was it traumatizing for Tim and Damian to learn that the brother they looked up to was subjected to something like this? DETAILS, MAN, DETAILS.
Dick is frequently written as the focal point of fics wherein a villain graphically rapes him in addition to the rapes he endured in canon, but in far more specific and traumatizing ways and with the vast majority of fics having this villain be male and in a vast majority of those fics, the rapes rendered in ways that are sexually gratifying and titillating even in scenes emphasizing the emotional devastation the actual actions inflict on Dick.
Fandom: ....not sure I see the issue, bro.
Me: One of these things is not like the others.
Fandom: ....still not seeing it.
Me: Its almost like there’s only one specific kind of trauma many of you are willing to consider Dick an actual victim for suffering....
Fandom: ....okay but its not our fault literally none of the other things count.
Me: .....and the way many people write this specific kind of trauma being inflicted on him in particular, lends the impression that even here its still not about sympathizing with him so much as enjoying the acts inflicted on him and the emotional distress they cause him.
Fandom: ....nah. LOL.
